Just returned on the PRIDE

A glorious week aboard the Pride! There was good (and plentiful) food in the Mermaid and the Normandie, and spectacular food at David's; consistently excellent service everywhere on board; and, best of all, our happy refuge and haven in an aft wrap-around. Our plan to really get away and be away was fully, and happily, realized. As Mach notes accurately elsewhere (in a thread about Carnival/Walmart), you pretty much make of your cruise what you want to. Our hope was to do as little as possible, except read, sleep, eat when we felt like it, and sip a martini or two at whatever we thought was an appropriate hour. I know a lot of you will consider this anathema, but we never saw a show, we never went to the casino, we never played a single game, we never went to the spa, we didn't buy a single piece of art, I never went into a pool - and it all was bliss! We did have the extraordinary deck/balcony with three chairs, two tables, and two lounges, and we were blessed with perfect weather and fair seas. The ship was always immaculate, as was our cabin, courtesy of an attentive and personable fellow named Gilbert; and the few nights we ate at the Normandie, Witanda and Luis took very good care of us. Unfortunately, I can't begin to list the names of the exceedingly gifted servers and service personnel at David's (where we twice had dinner), but they were all very accomplished at what they do.

There was a wee snag at embarkation a week ago, but it was quickly righted; and disembarkation this morning was a pleasant surprise: Our bags were collected last night, we walked off the ship at 7:45, cleared Customs in short order, collected our bags, walked to the car, and were home in Studio City by 8:40!

A truly wonderful week, and we are grateful to all who made it so.

Greetings,

So glad that Julio weakened and hopped over to the other side of Baja by Sunday afternoon and didn't bother you!

Bad news is that the 40% humidity you're feeling right now is what remains of it.

Thanks, phroggie. Thought of you as the days passed in beauty, and the seas were peacful and calm. Of humidity, however...40% is nothing compared to the oppressive "Jungle Fever" of Puerto Vallarta. I have never felt as ennervated so quickly - minutes - as I did in PV. I walked as far as I could, dripping a trail behind me, I'm sure, until I could take it no longer, and beat a hasty retreat to the air-c0nditioned heaven that was the Pride.
