Kerry78 Posted September 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2008 I just filled out my funpass. I did it last year also. Although last year I still remember doing alot at the terminal and being at the desk for a while. What is the point of the funpass? I see this year they have it so you can set up your onboard accounts- does that mean I will NOT have to set it up at the desk OR write down any more CCard info? THANKS!!! CruiseFuse Posted September 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2008 Supposedly it is supposed to make check in easier and sets up your S&S, but last year we didn't notice any difference at all. They ask you to fill it out, so we do.
earlethepearl Posted September 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2008 It is supposed to be a Boarding Pass of sorts but you still have some information you have to give at the counter.

annabell08 Posted September 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2008 We had to show our funpass to get into the terminal in Tampa last May.
shipty2 Posted September 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2008 When we cruised on the Liberty last December I had filled out everything including account info and when we got to the counter I noticed DS's shoe was untied. By the time I told him to tie it and he did we were checked in.
big_duck Posted September 5, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2008 As long as you use the same credit card as specified on the fun pass check-in just takes a couple of minutes. Put down the wrong one (oops) and it will take longer. :o
bankerbabe Posted September 5, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2008 It's not very FUN..... Maybe it's just the banker in me, but I love filling out the documents to get on the cruise ship . . . it means I'm REALLY going!

Rare GaryWT Posted September 5, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 5, 2008 This year , same as last year, the longest wait at the counter is them walking over to get you cards. The fun pass and the credit card is all you need to bring.

DAllenTCY Posted September 5, 2008 #13 Share Posted September 5, 2008 Beginning this month, you'll have to have submitted your Fun Pass information at least 90 minutes before sailing, or you'll be watching your vacation sail away from you. Don't wait until you arrive at the pier! Carnival suggests that you fill out the information 30 days in advance. At least do it online a week before, if you wait until the last day or so before your cruise the online form will not work. David

David Can you say where you learned this? With the problems of funpass info disappearing I don't see how they can enforce this. If it's really true, then I would print all the screens you filled in to prove it was done.
mike91911 Posted September 6, 2008 #15 Share Posted September 6, 2008 What if I'm going to use cash for my account. Will I still be able to fill out the funpass online if I'm not using a credit card?
G'ma Posted September 6, 2008 #16 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Information on each passenger is required by Homeland Security PRIOR to the ships departure. A complete passenger manifest must be submitted. They can use the information on your Fun Pass for their reporting needs which makes the whole procedure more efficient. Those who show up without having a completed FunPass have to do it at the checkin desk. This holds up the passenger and the boarding process, That's why the new checkin rules say that those without a completed Fun Pass must check in 90 minutes prior to sailing while everyone else has a 60 minute limit. In addition, Carnival lets you complete certain information about your onboard account which, again, speeds up the boarding process. They're just trying to cut down on the lines. Imagine, if you will, 3000 people having to fill out all this information right there.....it would be a much longer wait, fer sure.
