TA party vs Connections party - can you do both?

Friends of ours (coincidentally) are booked on the same cruise we're taking in January, with a large group of people. I was encouraging them to sign up for the Connections party. She said their TA had told them that she was having Celebrity throw them a party from the TA, and they could do one or the other, but not both. Anyone ever hear of that?

Something else about the connections party is that it really doesn't even really cost the cruise line anything. The have coffee and pastry's and that's it. It is not like some big extravigant deal, just a time and place for CC members to meet.

I see no reason why you couldn't do both, you can even sign up for the connections party, as long as they already have enough people signed up once you are on board. Just go to guest relations and ask where and when the CC party is.

As part of Celebrity's Group Program, each group earns a certain amount of amenity points. The group organizer decides how to "spend" those points among the group. In addition to on board credits, the organizer can throw a cocktail party, which appears to be the case here. The 2 gatherings are not mutually exclusive. Go to both events.
