Bangkok hotel- Navalai River Resort

I have never heard of this hotel but have noticed a flurry of 'boutique' hotels opening in Bangkok recently...

unfortunately there's some poetic license in the use the the term 'boutique'...in general it seems to mean an old hotel that has been refurbished...often the refurbishments are limited only to the lobby area...

the websites look wonderful but the reality is a little different...

when they state things like this I would be a little wary...

Cancellation Policy :

• No charge will be levied on cancellations made more than 366 day(s) prior to the Check-In Date.

366 days is more than one year!!...

Thanks Klongmaster for the thoughts.

We've never been to Bangkok and the only way to know about the hotels is from reviews, etc from those who have been. Is it possible that the reviews are bogus? We'd like to stay at a decent place without breaking the bank. As with most others, we will be gone much of the day on tours, so why spend a lot on a room you're not in, expect to sleep. Yet, we don't want to sleep in a dump either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a few places that I've personally been too and have had clients stay at.

A range of budgets here for you too.

http://www.arnoma.com/ This is right in the Pratunam area which is the best place for shopping for clothes and computer gear...has been very popular with cruisers.

http://www.pprincess.com/ Pratunam Princess connects directly to MBK shopping centre which is 7 floors of shopping paradise at budget prices...in the Siam Square area.

http://www.athomeplace.com/index.htm In Sukhumvit 33 and therefore walking distance to the BTS and Emporium Shopping Complex.

http://www.shanghai-inn.com/bangkok_hotel.html This one is in Chinatown so you're right in the midst of great street food and markets. Hotel gets very favourable reports.

Again not sure what your budget is but anything under 2000 baht is going to be a bit suspect...
