Lair Bear Posted September 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2008 These old pictures were very interesting to me because I remember my father telling us that when he was a sailor he crossed through the Panama Canal a couple times on his way to San Francisco. That was back around 1920. He worked in the engine room on one of the Holland America Line cargo ships. We did the canal transit a couple years ago and, of course, it looks a bit different now.
