Rare uktog Posted September 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2008 Can anyone recommed a genuine Italian experience near the port for our pre cruise night. We have been to Rome many times and as our flight arrives at 1700 we think we will just head in the direction of the port. Price is not a key consideration, rather the value - it can be expensive if it is great. We will want to have a meal at night and will not have any transport
agabbymama Posted September 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2008 This isn't a hotel, it's a B&B, but don't think you will get much more Italian than this. http://nuke.casamicacv.it/ I wanted to stay here for our 3 days pre-cruise in Rome, but the hour to hour and a half train ride each way, just didn't make sense. Patricia was so nice in her emails back and forth to me. And Germano will pick you up at the airport for an added fee, but then courtesy transfer you to the pier. I didn't find many hotels in the area. There is a Hotel Triano (sp?) that quite a few posters mentioned. You might do a search for Civitavecchia. There was another hotel downtown Civitavecchia, but I don't remember the name. Good luck and have a great trip!
Sea Island Lady Posted September 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2008 I stayed at the Casamica B&B, and while nice enough, it was certainly not a true Italian experience. You can read my review and see photos on Trip Advisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g194743-d590322-Reviews-Casamica_Bed_Breakfast-Civitavecchia_Lazio.html We stayed at the Casamica for one night to save on cost. Had price not been an option,we would have stayed at the San Giorgio Hotel http://www.sangiorgiohotel.biz/en/index.htm. I am certainly not recommending the following, because I know nothing about this place, but this seems to be the only "countryside" inn near Civitavecchia. And...it looks nice! http://www.tenutadellargento.com/TENUTA_UK/index.php
