waykaylincruz Posted September 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2008 Has anyone been to Portland Maine and visited the Cabelas Store that is located in Scarborough Maine. Also, the Len Libby chocolate store is there. Supposedly it is a short drive from Portland. If anyone has, could you please help answer a few questions?? How far is it from where the cruise ship docks?? Is it close enough to take a taxi?? We have a few hours without plans in Portland in a couple of weeks and wanted to check these places out. Thanks for your help!! Renee
sopo pirates Posted September 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2008 They're both less than 10 miles from cruise terminal - and about 2 miles from each other. You could take a taxi, but be sure the driver's going to wait for you and take you to the next destination, or at least get the taxi company's # to call when you're ready to move from place to place. Cabela's is new (opened this summer) and lots of construction on new shopping area around it still underway, ie, not much else to see or do there. IMHO, a trip to Freeport to LL Bean and the whole gammet of outlet stores is a better way to spend the day if you want to go to an outdoor adventure store - if you're coming in on a weekend this fall (thru Oct 12), you might be able to sign up for a "walk on adventure" at Beans and go kayaking, learn fly casting, try archery or even clay shooting for $15. And Freeport is home to Wilbur's candies for the chocolate fan.
