Deck plan may show larger cabin, but...

When I booked on Vision, I noticed that the very forward cabins on some decks seemed larger/longer than the ones nearer the middle. However, this space was actually taken up by two things: One, our porthole in cabin 4502 was recessed a couple feet, reducing our view and not adding to the size of the cabin at all. I would have preferred a porthole or window that's not recessed. Plus, we also had a 4-ft wide "shelf" beneath the window that was only good for storing stuff or laying out our wet clothes to dry. Therefore, the apparently extra cabin space did not add to the floor space.

We just came back from staying in a larger room up front on NCL.
