Aft balcony was not for me!

RELAX. It’s not as bad as everyone is saying, but of course there are always exceptions.

1st, on our sailing on deck 7, we had no soot, nor did we get any garbage. Perhaps we were just lucky. We did see a cigarette butt one morning (another reason to keep those balcony doors closed!). And if it rains, you’re SOOL. As far as shade, you will have to determine how much time you are there at high noon. It’s fine all morning, and late afternoon into the evening.

There is motion, just slightly, and you should get used to it. The noise, well, it’s noise, and you do get used to it as well.

As far as the privacy factor, you’re only visible when you stand at the rail. When you’re seated, you can not be seen from above or from the side.

BUT, remember the POSITIVE. The panoramic views you get when you stand at the rail are marvelous. And seeing that wake behind you can be mesmerizing.

Here's a view from above on the Lido deck looking down:

Thanks for posting your positive experience. We booked an aft cabin for next May because of exactly what you have said. I loved how mesmerizing it is to look back at the wake (it's my computer background) and wanted that view as much as I could possibly have it.

We had an aft on the conquest and loved it to death. We had a sail away party from each port with our other aft balcony mates. Sorry to hear some didnt like it but my DW is still trying to convince me that we need one on our next cruise which is already booked!!

Terri910 ----- How exciting for you, not very many days until your cruise starts!! I hope you guys have a wonderful trip, and try to enjoy a little of Honolulu after you disembark. Also, it's ok if you want to make any final donations in the casino....but wait, do you only get the casino on the sea days before you get to the Hawaiin Islands? Somewhere I read that the casino can't be open in those waters. Anyway, I'll be happy to take care of your donation after you leave :-p

Does anyone know when they do the lifeboat drill when the ship doesn't sail the first night? In other words, we board in Honolulu, stay the night and sail away the next evening. Just curious, since we have never done that before.

Hi fellow Hawaii cruisers. You will get there first, darn. We do not sail until 4-24-09.

Have done the extended aft balcony twice on the Spirit to Alaska. Would never want any other place for the inside passage. The views were just breath taking. Loved being out in my swim suit in Alaska in May both times.

Now we like the sound of the water. So the Aft was perfect for us. Love to have the rolling of the sea while we sleep. We have splurged this next time to Hawaii and have Cabin # 4237, aft wrap around. So looking forward to our cruise.

Say "Aloha" to Hawaii for us. Enjoy your cruise.
We just booked an aft jr suite on the Adventure of the Seas, 10th level. Has anyone here any positive or negative info on these cabins.
We just came back from the Explorer of the Seas with an aft cabin on deck ten, but not a JS. It was one of those special D1 cabins that was very much like a JS without the JS price or a bath tub, or an extra cruise credit :( (1688)

We were THRILLED. It was a LOT quieter than a Carnival ship, and it was VERY stable back there.

But you are visible from the Windjammer at the rail as well.

Anyway, I have pix of that in my link below as well, as well as my review.
