Hey I wonder if Kylie was the person responsible for sending out all the past passenger cards? Because hubby and I are STILL waiting for ours :p Oh No Jo .. that's DANE!!! (This is the response I received when I emailed them asking about why I hadn't gotten mine .... apparently if we don't have one now - we won't be getting them) (this is just one of the many email conversations Dane and I had on the subject!!!):) (I've had quite the email connection with P&O over the last few weeks!!!!!!) Hello, The only cards that get sent out for P&O are blue plastic cards that states your membership number on it. The cards are out sourced to be printed and unfortunatley can not be re-printed or produced as we do not have the resources here. These cards have no practical use on board, except to show your membership number when booking or enquiring about future cruises. However, if you see any specials or offers you are welcome to give us a call and quote your membership number to see if you will receive further discounts. If you would like a print out of your cruise history with P&O and membership number/s, please let me know and one can be posted. If I haven't received mine then how in the heck to do I know what my past passenger number is. :o My number did show up on my cruise personaliser for our current booked cruise ADF ... so it's in the system somewhere --- just a pity you can't quote it to you TA when you book! I would suggest you contact P&O (Kylie or Dane seem to be the ones in the know:)) and ask them to provide it to you! (Dane did confirm my number in a previous email!) But previously to walk along the back you had to crouch down under the slide, didn't make it easy if you were on one side and wanted to walk over to the other as you had walk right around the front, or if going to the loo. Where the deck chairs are is opened up at night generally and the deck chairs removed giving more space for the night time activities on deck such as island night. qld cruiser Posted October 4, 2008 #90 Share Posted October 4, 2008 Hi all, another reason the slide was removed was for safety. I was onboard when a child (with his dad, ) wanted to go on the slide, boy was told by staff..sorry you are not tall enough, to which dad replied ...then I will take him on my knee. staff said no but he went, and father fell off slide injuring himself..breaking bones. I am sure that would not have been the only accident with the slide and as the Captain always says...your safety is our main priority. sorry that the seahorses remain though.. kind regards, Lorraine:) :)

Punctuation plays an important part in interpreting and things can be taken the wrong way if something as "trivial" as a full stop or comma is left out. I don't mean to sound pedantic, just trying to read posts as they are supposed to be read.
Megagirl Posted December 23, 2008 #93 Share Posted December 23, 2008 Just got my latest copy of "Cruise Weekly". It contains an article saying that Star Cruises is installing a water slide on the Superstar Virgo. Perhaps they bought it from Kylie of P&O fame, or thru ebay. They claim it's the first of it's kind in the world. Ha ha. It's to be installed during dry dock next month. Jenny

thied Posted December 23, 2008 #95 Share Posted December 23, 2008 The 47,262-ton 1,486-passenger Pacific Sun was originally xxxxxxx Jubilee, a member of that line's Holiday class, which also included and Celebration. The Swedish-built ship was transferred to Australia in 2004, and at that time soft goods were replaced and dining options were added, including an alternative dining steakhouse. Features that remain familiar from the xxxxxxxxxxxxx days include the twisting, two deck-tall waterslide and multitude of bars and lounges on the Promenade deck. The ship has two swimming pools and two open-air whirlpools. In September 2008, Pacific Sun underwent a multi-million dollar refit in Brisbane which included a number of significant changes. The exterior of the ship was given a new look and was painted all white to match its sister ship, Pacific Dawn. Interior wise, there have also been a number of changes to Pacific Sun. Here's a round up of the latest facilities onboard: .The top sun deck is now an adults-only Oasis spa area complete with chocolate brown wicker beds, lounges, ottomans and a new whirlpool. A new ocean-view gym area has been built on Deck 10 and the old gym has become a relaxation room for the ship's Lotus Spa. The library has been refurbished and transformed into a steakhouse to offer guests more of an intimate dining experience. No ship is complete now without a good coffee bar -- Pacific Sun now has its own dedicated coffee shop, the Outback Bar. Pacific Sun was designed by Carnival's legendary Joe Farcus and has several over-the-top Farcus design attributes. The restaurants, the Burgundy and Bordeaux, are "French"-inspired and the Speak Easy piano bar boasts a vibrant New Orleans theme. The sports bar now features Australian (rather than American) sports memorabilia. In a fun coincidence, the disco was already named Oz, but the decor is more hip than Australian -- the room boasts a checkerboard floor. Other public areas of note include a two-story show lounge, separate cinema and casino. In addition to the dining rooms, dining options include a Lido buffet, a sushi bar that also serves oysters and the Outback Steakhouse (no relation to the chain). The ship has an Internet cafe in the corner of Churchill's Library. There are kids’ facilities for those up to age 13, with bigger kids entertained in facilities on the top deck and those ages 3 to 6 enjoying a playroom on a lower deck. The ship also has a video arcade. The ship’s 743 cabins include 10 suites on Deck 11 with private balconies and butler service. Standard cabins are a decent size and have twin beds that can be converted into queens (there are also a small number of cabins with upper and lower berths that can not be converted). There are 453 oceanview cabins (about two-thirds of all cabins). In its new homeport of Brisbane, the ship is the largest ever based in Queensland. Pacific Sun cruises around Australia and also to the South Pacific. --by Fran Golden. I don't think she has seen the ship as Pacific Sun. Many cruise authors get their information from cruise line press releases, rather than 1st or 2nd hand experiences. P&O did not announce the removal of the slide in their press releases at the time - as mentioned earlier in the thread, the P&O phone and email girls thought the slide was still on the ship too. planning obsessed Posted December 23, 2008 #99 Share Posted December 23, 2008 After I booked the Pacific Dawn hubby saw a photo of the Sun's Lido deck. His response was "that ships got a waterslide, why didn't you book that one?" While I agree that the deck now looks better without the waterslide, based on photos, there may be a number of disappointed people who selected the Sun over the Dawn because of the slide. Debbie. jessica3152 Posted December 23, 2008 #100 Share Posted December 23, 2008 It is strange that P&O are removing the slides whilst their owners are increasing the size and variety of slides offered onboard all of the Fantasy Class ships as well as newbuilds such as Carnival Dream. My kids loved Pac Sun's slide. In fact they said that apart from the slide, Sky was so much better. I suggested we go on a coastal cruise on Sun but when I told them the slide was gone they said they'd prefer to go to a land based resort.
