Are there any beaches in Belize...

Are there any beaches in Belize that are near the tender port? Or do you have to take a taxi to get to a beach in Belize? If there are beaches close to the port, are they nice? Any information would be appreciated! Thank you!

belize city is not a area you want to wander off, on your own. unless you are world travelers and know the risks.

as our bus left the dock area, we drove by a sea wall...had about 6 ft of beach (could have been high tide). not a pretty beach or water...plus, you would have to worry about theft the whole time. one of the resorts or hotels may have a better area, but they could charge you for day use.

read down a few thread about bannister island.

belize is great, but you need to get away from the dock...even out of town...to enjoy it. the best beaches are on the different cayes.

there are ways to enjoy snorkeling or just a beach, by private vendor...less money then the cruiseline tours.

Your best bet is to book a trip to one of the islands or cays. We went to Bannister Island with Fab Tours on our last visit and it was pretty nice. I heard that Fab now has their own island. It would be interesting to visit it on our next trip.

 

As Toyz said, you can book thru a local company and save 25% to 40% less than the ship tours and you can book at the tenderdock or online.
