Ring of Fire

Is anyone out there doing the complete Ring of Fire cruise on the Mariner starting at the end of January? My husband and I will be there. Would love to hear from others who will be on board.

We'll be doing one leg of the Ring of Fire - Osaka to Seward, in May. We have a 2-week tour of Japan planned just prior to the cruise, so this will be a 1-month vacation for us. This will be our 3rd Regent cruise. See you on board.

My parents and my husband and I will be on the Osaka to Seward leg as well. Cannot wait!

We recently cancelled this Regent cruise & our tour of Japan. We'll do Japan some other time. Regent is allowing us to use the deposit on some other cruise we book this year, and sail by Dec. 2010.

We've heard of this 'Ring of Fire' cruise before, what is the 'ring of fire' and how did it get its name?

 

Geographically, we've never heard the expression used outside cruising.

 

I was thinking maybe volcanoes or something, anyone care to share their expertise?

"Ring of Fire" does refer to volcanic activity. The "ring" goes from the volcanoes in western So. America, up Central America, and then the US up to Alaska. Then over via the Aleutians and down Japan and into SE Asia island nations. Sort of does a ring around the Pacific.
