Jan Sue Posted September 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2008 We are traveling on the Navigator over Christmas this year to the Caribbean. Anyone familiar with the shipboard activities? Does the casino stay open late and is there music and entertainment happening every night? Thanks for any insight. I have read that there are some holiday activities. Anyone familiar with what special kinds of things there are to do while on the ship?
lborne Posted September 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Jan, As you know, we are on this cruise with you. We are taking our children and I was worried about what kinds of activities they would have for them. My TA was able to get last years daily kids program from Regent, and hopefully a few weeks before we leave, she will get us ones for this year. We also wanted to plan our shore activities around any "not to miss" acitivites for the kids. Maybe your TA can help.
Jan Sue Posted October 9, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Thanks for your response. What activities did you decide on? We have planned excursions for almost all the islands. Maybe we will be on some of the same ones.
lborne Posted October 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2008 Sorry I'm so late in responding. Grand Caymen -Atlantis Submersibles at 10:30. Nothing planned for after lunch yet. Cozumel day 1 - nothing planned, maybe hit a beach. Cozumel day 2 - Dolphin Swim. Don't have the exact time booked yet but will probably be there most of the day. Belize - Lamanai Ruins and New River Cruise. Not much of a choice here since you need to be 12 or older for most other tours. Guatemala - We are going to hire a tour guide at the port. My limited research on this subject seems to indicate it won't be a problem. Costa Maya - We will get a taxi into the nearby town and shop, then swim. We are not taking a guided tour here. Key West - just doing it on our own. Have not decided exactly what yet. What about you? You won't be able to miss us. We'll have a shy 10 year old boy and a very talkative and outgoing 5 year old blonde boy. We've just got our cruise documents yesterday, by the way. Jan Sue Posted October 27, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Lborne, Thanks for the info – haven’t received our docs yet but will contact our TA tomorrow. We have (pretty much) finalized our excursion plans also – like you both Guatemala (hire a taxi) and Key West (just walk around) will be decided when we get to port. The others are: Cayman – Captain Marvin Charter – do a little snorkeling and fishing Cozumel day 1 – we arranged with a local organization to go Fly fishing. I did some research and saw that there may be a “jump up” at the town square (music, dancing, etc) Cozumel day 2 – Doing a Mexican cooking & tasting class Belize – Cave Tubing Costa Maya – Diving Look forward to meeting you on board. Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2008 The Lamanai trip is a good one. Just take a hat that ties under your chin, or otherewise secure your hair if it's long. The boat trip is windy. Lots of wildlife. The 10-year old can climb a pyramid if you let him! We were on Navigator just before Christmas 2 years ago--the decorations were in place, and were very nice.
lborne Posted October 27, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Wendy - Thanks for the tips. The 10 yr old does like to climb, so I don't see how we can stop him. Jan - thanks for the tip on the "jump up". That might be a lot of fun. Looks like we are the only two on this cruise.
