mm25112 Posted April 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Are you allowed to keep your own bottled water and soft drinks in the room refrigerator? We do not want to purchase any of the "goodies" offered in the frig'. We only want to use it to keep some of our bottles chilled. Can we ask that all the "goodies" be removed and not be charged for them??
2VaCruzers Posted April 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Yep...we did. Guest wrinkles Posted April 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Hi all, Great question and an even better answer. I'll have our steward empty the refrigerator also. With two kids, the temptation is just too much for them. (We'd probably have to re-finance the house just to cover their snack costs.) Thanks neighbor! I live in the Fair Oaks area of Fairfax! Ocean Boy Posted April 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Definitely a good idea to have your steward empty to frig. Some are equiped with sensors and if you remove an item, whether you use it or not, a charge is automatically generated.
J&SLowery Posted April 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2004 RCCL actually gives instuctions about the room refrigerator on one of the first handouts you'll receive in your stateroom. It explains that if you want it emptied, the attendant will do so upon your request. Unfortunately, they're not very cold. Or possibly it could be that I have just not spent enough time trying to find the thermostat. 2VaCruzers Posted April 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Wow Leigh...you should check out the thread we have called Island Cruisers of VA !! A bunch of us got together and had a potluck in March. Next one will be this summer (after the cicadas) in my backyard by the pool. Check out the thread as there is a picture of us. A few of the folks that religiously post could make it. 2VaCruzers Posted April 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2004 No, you are right...they aren't very cold. lschrage Posted April 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Our fridge wasn't very cold at all. Since we had anticpated that, we brought our small collapsable cooler and our steward stocked it with fresh ice each day without us even having to ask. It was a wonderful having ice cold pop (the kind we like) when you get back from the shore excursions. I will do the same thing again for our upcoming cruise. maxxboy Posted April 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2004 We have found that it's best to put your drinks in the fridge as soon as you arrive. Then try to leave it alone until the next day. We do this on each cruise and it seems to work quite nicely!
sharonkaye Posted April 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2004 We had our frig emptied the first day - beware several of the candy boxes placed on the door were empty and placed back to look full. The refrigerators aren't very cold my son has medicine he needs to keep refrigerated so we placed our cold paks in there and had the room service occasionally refreeze them - worked fine. mm25112 Posted April 15, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Thank you all so much! I will have the steward remove all items, take a collapsable cooker and ice packs With all the food on board ship and available 24 hrs. a day, I can't imagine anyone paying for something out of the frig. Can's wait to cruise!
