LindaKE Posted September 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Has anyone had a port call in Portland? I've not seen it on an itinerary before, and the search engine is down so I can't do a query.
SailBadtheSinner Posted September 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Here are recent threads that all had Portland in their title: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=845506 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=835475 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=837458 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=786023 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=820068 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=806288 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=782466 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=796883 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=778772 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=785232
LindaKE Posted September 19, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Thanks for all the links; they were very helpful. We would like to see the lighthouse and some fall color. Is there a particular tour that would allow us to see both on a relatively short excursion (not all day)?
VicKen Posted September 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2008 We are going to take the Portland trolley tour ($16) it makes a stop at the Portland Headlight - don't know if we will see fall color but it was a way for us to get a 1.5 hour overview and see the lighthouse and still have time for the Victorian mansion or Longfellow house. Its Eagle Island tours (formerly Mainely tours).
sopo pirates Posted September 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2008 If you're looking for a tour from your ship, look into the "Highlights with Lighthouse" which is a 2 hour tour through Portland with time at Portland Head Light, or try the 3 1/2 hr "Lighthouses of Maine" which includes a city tour and stops at 3 Lighthouses. Scooter-n-GB Posted September 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2008 Foliage on the coast is barely in right now. We are at probably around 20%. Another week or two and the "fires" should be burning though.:p
