Brenda33 Posted September 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2008 We are leaving on November 1st on the RCCL Explorer. I would like to know if anyone has been to the Emerald Beach Resort lately and how it was....and if there were any fees....and if you can use the pool also. Thanks for any info. :)
runner15km Posted September 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2008 I was just at Emerald Beach on our cruise 4/12/08. Taxi was $7 p/p ea. way from Havensight, chair rental $10. The beach was very nice and water warm and clear. You enter at the Best Western Hotel through there flower lined walkway. Food, drinks and restroom available at BW. Beach not crowded at all, maybe 30-40 people mostly people staying at the 2 resorts that share this beach. The one thing that may bother some people is the airport is nearby, not busy like NY, but a few leaving and landing. There is a rocky area on the far side of the beach were you could do some snorkling. They have kayaks and rafts to rent. We did not ask to use the pool. cruisingbooboo Posted September 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2008 How far is this from Havensight dock? Is there a fee to enter? Can you get beers?
Brenda33 Posted September 29, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I'm not sure about the distance. No, there is not a fee to get in from what I have found out. They do have a bar.
The Islander Posted September 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2008 In the past some have reported that their pool use was overlooked because they bought drinks/food and others have said they were told the pool was for hotel guests. Havensight to Emerald is about a 15 minute drive in low/medium traffic. About a 5 minute drive from Crown Bay Dock. No fee to enter. There are a couple beach bars for drinks and food. --Islander
jean212 Posted October 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Just want to add my 2 cents:D We were also at Emerald Beach this past April. We didn't want to wait around until the open air cabs were filled up, so we walked a few blocks out from Crown bay and found a local cab that took us to Emerald. Much easier! We spent the day on the beach, DH rented a chair which he pulled into the shade all day. There is a bar right on the beach, which we purchased many buckets of beer all day. (didn't even know there was a pool) Took a short walk to the park on the far right side of the beach where we took lots of pictures of the iguanas. The airport didn't bother us - we've been to St. Thomas many times and wanted to try a different beach on the Crown bay side. This one was great -not crowded, a lot of locals which we had conversations with, nice sandy bottom beach, warm water. A great day for us.

The Islander Posted October 28, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2008 Sapphire has good snorkeling. Emerald isn't known for snorkeling. --Islander
