Carnival Glory Excursions

We are going on our second cruise on October 4th on the Carnival Glory through the Western Carribbean. Can anyone give us any suggestions as far as excursions - which ones are worth the money and which ones are not? I am interested in any excursions both thru Carnival and any that are not through the cruise line. Thanks!:)

I just sailed on Glory September 6. Beautiful ship! You can find your own excursions in Cozumel (went to Paradise Beach and loved it), Roatan (went ziplining and to the beach for $60 including transportation) and freeport ( I believe it was a Weston Resort). We booked through Carnival for Belize, it's best to do so. We did the snorkeling at Turniff (sp) reef and beach break. I LOVED IT! Drink some rum punch for me! Worth the money for $69! :D

Just got back on 9-13 and we had a great time. In Cozumel and Freeport we rented a scooter and went where we wanted. They went about 40 mph and cost $25 in Cozumel and $35 in Freeport. In Cozumel I looked it up online and if you brought the ad it was the online price which was significantly lower and was good for the day. My wife and I found a place to snorkel and just scooted around. In Freeport we took a group taxi to Port Lucaya and rented one there for a couple hours, took a long ride along the coast and ended up in no mans land by some caves, we were pushed for time so we didn't stop but we had a blast just riding 2 on a scooter. Back in Lucaya we stopped at the casino, had a complementary drink while we fed quarters to the one armed bandit. In Hondurus we rented a taxi for the day from Diana and Shirley and for $50 a couple we went snorkeling and stopped at a beach where Beer was $2 and coke $1. The driver spoke english and was giving small bits of info as we drove. In Belize we were quite tired and have been there several time so we slept in and just briefly visited the dock area, but we have had a great tme doing the cave tubing in the past.

Have a great time and if you like popular tunes make sure you see Summer Breeze in the lobby bar.

Hey same cruise :)

In Cozumel we are taking a taxi to Paradise Beach (google them) to see all they have to offer, for $10 you can buy an activity band and use the water toys. We have gone there before and had a great time. The chairs/umbrellas are free as long as you buy a drink, we have no problem doing that the drinks and food are great! I am trying to convince DD to try parasailing with me while we are there. DH is planning on renting a jet-ski and getting a massage :)

In Roatan we rented a driver for the day through Bodden Tours, we are going to sightsee, visit the monkeys and end up at a beach to snorkel. We are paying $30 each for this.

In Belize, I would suggest cave tubing if you haven't already done it, we did last year and it was fun. This year we are booking with Fab Tours for a snorkel/beach combo tour $49 each.

In Freeport we are hoping to go horseback riding but it's still up in the air.

Have a great cruise :)

We were on the Gory in July and here was our line-up.....

Cozumel we took a taxi to Paradise beach...we had a great time. We have 5 kids and they had a blast. I think we spent a total of $140. Great day. Get the seafood platter, it is huge and oh so good!

(A side-note on the scooters in Cozumel...I was getting on the elevator with another couple....she was in a wheel chair and all bandaged up and he had stiches on his leg and arm. They rented a scooter in Cozumel and got into an accident. They told me they were confined to their room for a couple of days, I felt so bad for them.)

In Belize we went through Coral Breezes and did snorkel in sting ray alley and at the coral reefs. We then went to Caye Caulker and it was simply beautiful. This was my favorite place by far. Lunch was included and was delicious!!

In Rotan we also went through Victor BOdden tours and had a great tour of the island. We also went to the iguana farm and our kids fed the iguanas....went to Victor's house and got to hold monkies and take tons of pics. OUr kids loved this too!!

Freeport we took a taxi downtown to the beaches. All of the beaches are free at the hotels....we bought lunch at some bitty restaurant on the beach...I had fresh conch salad.

Hope this helps. Have a great trip!!

Sandi would you recommend the tour in Belize for a 16 year old girl, she is worried about the water being too deep. We were originally going to book with CB but read some recent reviews about it being very unorganized so we thought we would try something else. That was one tour she was interested in :)

Hi,

Our kids ages are 15, 13, 11, 6 and 3....when you get in the water to snorkel you can use a life vest. Even if you are good swimmer this are great to use.....all of kids used them. The water really was not that deep, I think when we were with the rays I could stand. Our 6 and 3 year only got in briefly as they were scared, not quite a swimming pool for them. I used the lefe vest too, it really helps you not get so tired.

Have fun, can you believe your time is FINALLY here!

No reality hasn't set in yet, but I am forcing myself to get some stuff done today :) On that tour what time (ship time) did you meet CB's? Did they bring you to Caye Caulker, if so how much time did you have there?

Well stupid me did not realize that Belize what two hours behind ship time. We were off the tender by 8am ship time......we waited a hour for coral breezes to open up. Yes, they bring to Caye Caulker, the boat ride there is about 30 minutes, pretty ride out. We were back to Belize city at about a hour before the last tender. We were only on the island for abouto 4 hours. I would have loved much more time there. It was so pretty on this little island.

From everything I've read I think I'd like to do the cave tubing in Belize. Can anyone let me know a good place to book it through? On fab tours it's $44 but you need 5 people and my DH and I are traveling with just the 2 of us. Coral Breeze is $66 - seems like a big price difference. Any suggestions??

Like other replies We just got back on the Glory

Cox - we just walked around but a couple on the ship said they took an underground cavern jeep tour that was great.

Roatan - we went clear kayaking and snorkling at Bumbalimba park. they have monkeys, hummingbirds and a pool for your use too. The guides were great.

Belize - you have got to go cave tubing!!!

Freeport - catch a cab and go to the beach, shopping or the casino.

We used cave-tubing dot com and thought they were great. If you go to the ports of call section for Belize you will see a bunch of threads where you can read up on them :)

Have a wonderful time :)

Thank you for adding the "-" in the address. No one on the thread did and without it you get a totally different site. It looks like they are the tour to use as far as pricing. I think we will book. Thanks again!

We were on a RCC ship in January, and the couple that was sitting at our table at dinner also got in a scooter accident in Cozumel. So be careful.

We were on the Glory 8/23/08 and had a great time. Here's what we did:

Cozumel: Paradise Beach. Enjoyed the floaties, the buckets of Sol, and the food! Also, DH and I each had a one hour massage. Heaven! Sign up for your time as soon as you arrive, so you can get the time you want. And don't forget to reapply sunscreen after or you will fry from the massage oil!

Roatan: Went ziplining with South Shore Canopy Tours, that we arranged through Victor Bodden. We felt very safe the entire time we were zipping, as there were 2 guides for our group of 6, and this company has the safety line.

After, we went to the beach at West End. Beautiful, but the kids selling things on the beach can get a bit aggressive. Just hang out in the beautiful water and you can avoid them! However, make sure you keep an eye on your valuables and towels. We didn't have a problem, but we heard someone farther down the beach did.

Food and drinks here were great and the bartenders were friendly and fun.

Belize: Cave tubing with Major Tom (belizecavetubing dot net). They are adamant about safety and good service. They mentioned that there would be other groups in the caves, sometimes up to 50 people, with only one tour guide. We thought they were just blowing their own horn and exaggerating, but it was true. At one point, we had people bumping up against us, asking us if we were with their group. They were floating freely with no guide. Scary! We had a tour guide for every 6-8 people lead us through the caves.

Freeport: Went on a catamaran day sail with some of our Roll Call buddies (the Sand Dollar). They are new to day sails so do not have a website yet, but we had a GREAT time with them sailing and snorkeling. They also grilled burgers and hot dogs and had a nice spread of fresh fruit, cheeses and lunch meats.

Hope you have a great cruise!

We did this with cave-tubing dot com back in July. It was fabulous. But be prepared to get dirty. You will get cleaned off when you arrive at the cave tubing. I think we enjoyed it more than the Cave Tubing. My 13 year old daughter had never driven anything but a bike before and she loved it. She was having difficulty at first and the guides(several on the tour) were great. One jumped on the back of her ATV and assisted her.

It seems like a lot of our stops have zip lining excursions. Has anyone done this? If so where and through what company? Was it worth the money? Also, how scary is it? My DH really wants to do this but I'm a little apprehensive. The last time I went parasailing I was scared to death.
