Lyndac chap2b Posted April 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We use them out of Denver. They're a good and reasonably priced airline. beachgirl55 Posted April 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Decided not to use Spirit out of Chicago. If they only have one flight that day and there is some problem where that flight gets cancelled you are stuck because they don't have reciprocal arrangements with other airlines. I would check on that. Of course, most times things go fine.
lauren0309 Posted April 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2004 I havent used them yet but I just booked a flight with them for February since they were the cheapest yet plus nonstop. NJGRANNY Posted April 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Hi, We flew Spirit from Atlantic City to Fort Lauderdale. Very good experience. Comfortable, fast flight. They arrived earlier than expected going and returning. Plus, it's so convenient to use the Atlantic City airport - no hassles. birdyhunter Posted April 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We've flown them quite a few times. Very happy with the price and service. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. In fact we're booked on Spirit to San Juan this summer. Rare OceanCruise Posted April 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We used them once NY to Florida a few years back.. It was OK but quite a step down from Continental. The flight attendants were a little surly, the interior of the plane was in need of some cosmetic work and there was no space for a lot of carry ons. There was a bit of confusion as a lot of carryons had to be taken away from many passengers as they boarded and stowed in cargo. To be honest, this plane made us a little more nervous than usual, but it got us where we were going to very cheaply and safely. Next time we would definately try Jet Blue instead or stick with Continental which is our favorite.

Kimarie Posted April 14, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 14, 2004 About one month ago we purchased tickets thru Spirit Air from Denver to Ft. Lauderdale as they were very inexpensive. About two weeks later I noticed they had changed our return flight from 5PM to 12PM. Since we are cruising into Miami, we felt that 12PM was too early and Spirit Air would not change it back to 5PM. They did refund our money however, now we are without tickets. My TA said that Spirit Air did the same to her. They changed the arrival and departure times about 3 times before she left on her trip. J&SLowery Posted April 15, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Hey Meg, We are using Spirit for the 10/17 AOS cruise as well. We will be connecting at FLL out of Reagan National. We have flown with them before and have been satisified. They are a no frills discount carrier. If you are looking for the best price, they are probably the way to go. If you are looking for more available flights, a larger carrier may be more appropriate for you. We are comfortable using them as the flight into SJU is to arrive at around 1:30pm which leaves nearly 10 hours if a problem were to arise. In fact, just flew Spirit air on the same connecting flights last week for our Radiance Cruise. When we got off the plane in FLL, they were directing connecting passengers to the SJU bound aircraft that was waiting for the connecting passenges from various locations. Anyway, I'm comfortable with them. rockyhou Posted April 15, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I was reluctant to use Spirit, but I thought I would go the cheapest route and give it a try. I got to where I was going and no major complaints..and a decent price...but as they say you get what you pay for. Defintly a downgrade from the larger carriers. megr1125 Posted April 17, 2004 Author #14 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Thanks all....gives me a lot to consider! Jay....I didn't even think you might be looking at spirit! silly me... I really want to do JetBlue to try it, but getting to JFK is a pain in the you know where - guess I could do a shuttle but it kind of eats up the savings! I don;t think mom would be happy even though it is cheap...she isn't a big fan of flying. Me thinks shall try a bigger carrier! meg "I gotta fly to St. Somewhere....I'm close to bodily harm!" jimmy b Time left til Boat Drinks on my 1st cruise on AOS! rkaplan Posted April 17, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 17, 2004 We use spirit airlines alot, coming from Michigan it seems to be easier to fly than Northwest and the weight limit is 70# and 50# on NWA. J&SLowery Posted April 19, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Meg, We could do JetBLUE as well, however, that would only get us to FLL. They do not have connecting service to SJU out of FLL, that I am aware of. You better check into that. If they don't, you'll still have to make a connection with another carrier. JetBLUE planes are 3x3 with leather seats that are the same size as regular coach seats, but are more comfortable as the leather makes them softer. The Direct TV is a nice feature. We enjoyed using them last October, but Spirit blew them away on price for April, and then of course there is October. CarolP Posted April 19, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Meg, Just to throw my two cents in, Jet Blue does fly nonstop to San Juan from JFK for 292.00 round trip. We used them last month from Boston to Orlando and can't say enough about them. Quick, friendly, comfortable and less expensive service than the majors. If you can get past the JFK issue, it might be a great choice for you. See you back on the meet and mingle.
