Too much OBC????

We are sailing on the Explorer of the Seas on November 1st. We have $500 in OBC. If we don't use all the credit, how do we go about getting the leftover money refunded to us? I heard somewhere you can get the extra in the casino, but others said there is 3% charge. Is there another way to get the unused amount? Thanks for any info. :)

You can transfer it to me. lol I would be very happy spending less than $500 on my account. You can get it in the casino but pay the 3%. Buy something nice or charge your gratuities on it as well. Use it to reserve your next cruise while on board. Have a great time.

All you have to do is go to the pursers desk and them you want to take some money from your account out and explain that you have a a cash credit on your room.

We usually take the money out on the second last day and never had a problem. Make sure you still give them a credit card number that way on your last night, if you make any purchases, they will credit your card for payment.

Hope this helps.

I don't think guest relations will give you cash for "on board credit" You will have to go to the casino and give up the 3%.

But after all its found money

This is incorrect. We were on the Explorer 2 weeks ago, b2b, and cashed out our account(obc) the last night of each cruise at the guest relations desk. We tried the casino first and were informed of the 3% fee.

Katie is correct........when we did our b2b on Splendour we had a substantial credit left on our SeaPass account at the end of each cruise and Guest Relations actually called our stateroom and told us to please come down and get our money to clean our account!

Are you putting up a credit card against your sea pass or are you paying with cash?

We're talking about On Board Credits(OBCs) we've been given on our Seapass accounts from travel agents, Visa points and shareholder benefits. If you do not spend all of it on your cruise, you receive it in cash at the end. This amount is used before RCI starts posting charges to you credit card for on board purchases.

It makes sense that it be returned to you in cash if it is substantial because they do not want to credit a large sum back to a CC and would you want them to? what if you are using a different card, you also will lose reward points or miles........the simplest way for all concerned with a large amount is to cash out, my guess. it is a benefit to them as well.

I am glad to hear this as I have a large OBC this trip and have paid for everything and I really do not think we will be drinking that much, gambling???????But I'll cash out with the purser the 3 extra dollars might make a difference on a jackpot;)

Most say the credit is usually there by the second say, is that correct?

By the way, twice we have had small amounts under $25 credited back to our card.

Yes, it usually will appear on your account by the second day.

We've always had our unused OBC credited by to our CC..........but when you are using RCI Visa.............you do lose points with a credit.

On our very first RCCL cruise, we didn't even realize we had a credit balance until the "bill" arrived under the door as we were docking for departure.

I believe most of the TVs now give balances; that ship didn't. The credit never did show up on our credit card. ($35 or so wasn't enought to fight about, especially since the ship gave it to us in the first place.)

However, I recommend you verify your balances (either by TV or checking with the front desk) frequently during your cruise. They are happy to give you a printout. It is easier, and you usually have a shorter line, if you don't wait till the last minute. You want to verify charges to your account; usually accurate, but there could be that odd charge you don't recognize or isn't yours.

OBCs usually show up one to two days after departure; headquarters verifies you are on board, sends a list to the ship for data entry, etc. One cruise we were short our OBC and the front office had to send an email to headquarters to verify if it was owed to us; took two days to show up on our account. Definitely, don't recommend you don't wait to the last night.

Thank you all for your help. I don't remember spending all that much in the past. Its usually only for drinks and a few photos. I don't shop much on board so I do think I will have some money left. I can use any of this towards my tips. Does anyone know if I should call to confirm that all my OBC has been posted to my account before I cruise?

You may call C&A to verify your OBC credits. We always do. YOu should note that any OBC from a TA may not show on the records that they have access to. Apparently OBC from the TA is handled differently or the TA does not apply it until the last minute. It still will show up on your onbard statement, usually by the second day.

I had leftover OBC on a previous cruise and they just credited it to the CC I had on file.

But we were told on the Explorer earlier this month that we now need to take it in cash which we did. However, there was still $11 in the account and that was credited to our cc. As someone said earlier, if you don't go on your own to guest relations, they will page you.
