Any ideas for a Bon Voyage Party?

First time cruisers would like to invite a few friends/family members over for a bon voyage party at our house prior to our cruise. This will be our first cruise and family/friends not cruising with us, just us.

Any ideas as to games/activities for adults/children for a party?

Thank you

pin the ship on the map-- find a world map-- cut out carnival ships and add tape- theone who comes closest to a port of sailing will win a prize.

a few years ago we had a cruise-themed birthday party for my daughter. It was outside by the pool and so we made the yard look like the "deck" and the fence all around the pool had "portholes" all around it. We had a "casino" set up with cards and chips. The food was set up like a gala buffet. I was dressed as a cruise director in a white skirt, white shirt, clipboard and white visor. My husband was the captain. I bought him a white polo-type shirt and sewed on epilettes with black and gold felt. He also wore white shorts, white sneakers and a captain's hat. The best part was the gangway he made with ropes and plywood. As each family arrived, they crossed the gangway and had their picture taken as they "boarded". Next to them in the photo was a sign saying Welcome Aboard the S.S. Sophia with a picture of a cruise ship. We even draped red and blue flags all around for decoration and held a bingo game.

this entire party can be tailored for inside...just run with the theme. How about a "passport" as an invitation?
