denatravels Posted May 15, 2015 #3601 Share Posted May 15, 2015 No idea why but the taxes on this cruise are INCREDIBLY low. Royal JEWEL OF THE SEAS - 15 NIGHT REPO to ITALY Ports - Canary Islands, Spain, Gilbratar Sailing Date: Apr 28 - May 13, 2016 Oceanview Guarantee (H) - INC taxes/fees + solo supp - $1,694* *Deck 4 The only reason I haven't booked is that it looks like flights back from Rome are $1,500-$2,000 one-way (if you want the trip to take 3 days or less), which defeats the purpose of that discount. >.< Many airlines only release 11 months of flights-- you are still out of that window. Rare insidecabin Posted May 15, 2015 #3602 Share Posted May 15, 2015 No, I hadn't. THANK YOU. Wait...why are they so cheap? $450 for KLM? That's also one of my partner airlines so I'll see if I can get upgrades with miles as well. :D Airlines don't like one ways to the public so you have to use one of the specialist TAs or use packaged flights like Choice Air to get the sensible one way fares. cruisevv Posted May 15, 2015 #3603 Share Posted May 15, 2015 Many airlines only release 11 months of flights-- you are still out of that window. I noticed denatravels. :) I priced out ChoiceAir and several airlines using March 2016 dates (to get an idea on projections since its only 6 weeks ahead of my flight) and May 2015 dates to see what it is currently. Thank you!

Brilliant that I know it now. Question - do RCI members get benefits or discounts with ChoiceAir? :D
jlajr Posted May 16, 2015 #3605 Share Posted May 16, 2015 (edited) Hi, My name is Kendra, from Illinois. Looking for a fall cruise,12 days or longer,or a back to back cruise. If anyone comes across any of these cruises with low single supplements, please let me know. I usually book inside cabins. I have been on HAL,Princess,Carnival,RCCL,Norwegian and MSC cruises. Thanks for any info. Kendra If you're up for it, and depending on how much flights would cost, a fall, westbound transatlantic might be an attractive option. Also, while we do look for fares reflecting a low single supplement, we also try to find low single-occupancy fares that do not necessarily reflect a low single supplement. In November 2013, I went on a nine-day Casblanca/Canary Islands cruise for USD 420 plus taxes and tips. I believe the double-occupancy price when I booked was something like USD 280 pp. So, that would be a 150% single supplement, not that low, but it was nonetheless a hell of a deal for single occupancy. :) Happy hunting! jlajr Posted May 16, 2015 #3606 Share Posted May 16, 2015 Hey Soloers, Am I spoiled? I've booked two 7-night cruises in the past with a balcony and paid less $1,300 including taxes/fees for each + OBC/Free Spa Treatment. RCI is having a sale now and I desperately want to book to get my 'perks' but they're asking $2,000+ for a balcony cabin! The thought turns my stomach. >.< I don't know about others, but it's been quite a while since I saw really attractive single-occupancy prices or low single supplements on RCI. I remember a few years ago using the link to a PDF of their weekly sales event (not sure I can post it here, though). It indicates the single supplement for each sailing. Once I saw a cruise or two at 125% single supplement, but that was it. This week shows a couple of sailings at 150%.
jlajr Posted May 16, 2015 #3607 Share Posted May 16, 2015 (edited) For 2 pax rate is MUCH MUCH cheaper through a EU seller I priced it at around €1500pp(810+644) for both trips and that includes taxes. Solo this is €2000 (€953+€1026(ov) ) so about $2260 inc. ON the first leg the US is $1672 inc taxes SI grade. second is $2071 in taxes $3743inc Through RCI's UK site, I just did a mock booking for a Studio Interior room on the second, 14-night leg for GBP 785 (about USD 1200), including taxes and prepaid gratuities. That is, lower than the initial advertised price that appears in the search results. Edited May 16, 2015 by jlajr

I use the same PDF and I'm learning the ropes of how to look for the low SSs and taxes. This week I booked a cruise with a $98 tax fee. I couldn't believe my eyes. Not sure if its because its international or if I sailed out of a different US port I'd get the same consideration. Anyway I think the PDF is really useful and I have the one for Carnival as well. Since its not a TA, it should be okay to post, should it not? Kreader Posted May 17, 2015 #3613 Share Posted May 17, 2015 Hi Nomie,Nice meeting you . Fun dancing at the white hot party. I am having a difficult time finding a good longer fall cruise with a low single supplement. Looking at Carnival Glory,14 nights, inside cabin Caribbean cruise on Oct. 31. Still about $1650 with port and taxes, after $75.00 obc. Will post if I find anything good. Norwegian does not have good single supplements for the fall,so unless that changes I won't be going on NCL. Bye for now,Kendra

It's actually lower than this week's Tuesday specials and it's a July 4th cruise. Trying to decide if should I book at this rate or wait? Looks like staterooms are selling out due to the holiday... 1jazzylady1 Posted May 24, 2015 #3615 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I was trying for a discount on last minute cruise end of June. Cruise billed for$699, but solo rate quoted $1400. I was trying to leave from near point since flights are so expensive plus hotel because I have so many near misses if I travel n the same day. My cruise last October was in jeopardy flying into NYC due to rain and storms. So, I trying for a port within driving distance. I said to the agent wouldn't it be better to fill a cabin vs letting it stay open and he said no. Years ago I could get a deal. I think I will do a solo trip to Toronto instead. I hope others have better luck.

Now I just have to hope for an upgrade. ;) I will check out one for (TA) October for my birthday. I did Cunard Queen Mary for my last birthday. Not a good cruise for solo travel. But I will not pay $200 per night unless it is for one of the all inclusive luxury lines. Otherwise getting a hotel at the for seasons or Ritz in Toronto would be more fun in June. Earl Colby Pottinger Posted May 25, 2015 #3623 Share Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) With my past guest discount: Oct 4.2015 was listed at $786 for 11 days. Oct 15.2015 was listed at $756 for 10 days. But I was slow booking because of personal matters Presently showing $878 and $838, I booked both legs, I now have a 21 day solo cruise for just over $2100 USD. If I had booked when it first showed up I would had the same cruise for less than $1900 USD for the same 21 days.
