Where does Viking Sun dock?

We are going Antwerp to Basel on Viking Sun in mid-November 08 -- our 1st riverboat cruise!

Where is their dock in Antwerp? We will be arriving by train from Brussels and will need to know which train station & where to have a taxi take us to get ship.

Where is their dock in Basel? How close is it to train? We will be heading to Zurich on train after disembarking boat and need to know what train station that we will be using.

Where in Amsterdam? What about docks in other stops?

How can I find out exact arrival & departure of Viking Sun at each stop BEFORE WE BOARD? Wanting to do a little study/research on each stop/city prior to leaving US.

From information supplied by Viking -- in Antwerp there are usually two docks used by their ships. But the actual location depends are where they are directed by the port authorities. And this is not usually known until the last minute! Viking suggests that you telephone the ship and you may get the information. (Unlike ocean-going lines, there is not usually a set docking location.

In Amsterdam Viking usually uses one docking area. However, this too is subject to change! From our experience, the river cruise ships are located a short (5-10 minute walk) from the Central Train Station.

Viking will include more information in the docs package.

As to specific time of departures/arrivals in the various locations on the cruise, you can only contact Viking. And you will get only approximate times. Much of the schedule depends on the depth of the river at the time of your cruise. If the river is low, speed restrictions are put into place. On your last trip, we were quite late into a few ports because of the speedl restrictions. Also, times may be altered so that the ship may meet her scheduled lock times. And departure times can be adjusted to account for restrictions that may be imposed by the authorities.

This is not the response you want, but it does reflect our experiences!
