Question about documents

We're booked to travel on the QM2 8/04/09. This crossing will be our return segment. We're sailing over on another ship (HAL) and will be in Europe in between. I understand that Cunard sends documents out 2 weeks in advance. We'll already be in transit. What arrangements could be made to get docs early, or shall we just wait until Southampton? Are there any concerns with picking up documents on the day of departure? Because both ships are owned by the same corporation, will this have an impact?

If your crossings are 4-5 weeks apart, Cunard after some prompting by your TA will issue early the return segment documents before you cross. I've had this done 3 times.

I don't recommend going without the return ticket in hand if you plan to travel in Europe. For example when re-entering England from the Schengen Zone you may be asked to provide proof of onward tickets...
