mommas Posted October 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2008 The ship will be in Port Said from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Most (if not all) will be heading for Cairo-- Having been to Cairo for ten days this year, we are not looking to take the long trip back to the city. Is there something to do in Port Said (all research has come up empty) Will we be able to find a guide to take us around or will all be taken by folks heading to Cairo? Any ideas? Has some one done what we're looking to do?
smeyer418 Posted October 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2008 you can go see the suez canal and/or cross into the Sinai and see some of the captured Israeli "forts" I don't know if you have enough time to get to St Catherine's and other Sinai sights. . http://www.touregypt.net/Catherines.htm
Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2009 I'm looking for something to do in Port Said also. Like the OP, I don't really want to return to Cairo for the day. St. Catherine's looks like too long a trip for a day. I'm wondering if anyone has ever been to Tanis? It looks fairly close to Port Said. Anyone know of a guide based in Port Said that won't have to come all the way from Cairo?

St Catherines is a long trip for a day BUT you can take a day tour of the Sinai which will include some of the forts captured by the Egyptians in the 73 war, a stop at the monument etc.....its too bad they closed the buildings that were part of the original Canal company including Ferdinand de Lesseps House....
