Capris in Egypt?

are capris acceptable for Cairo and touring or should I wear long pants only? Has anyone done Egypt lately?

Yes, capris are fine. Come over to the Ports of Call section "Africa" - we have quite a few regulars and we've made many trips to Egypt.

Capris are probably fine, although I felt more comfortable wearing long pants in Cairo. Women are very modestly dressed there -- not as much outside the city or as you go further south.

I wore capris and a long sleeve shirt which provided sun protection (Columbia sun shirts). Some women on our tour managed to ignore all the literature about proper dress and wore shorts and tank tops. At the Alabaster Mosque they were given robes to cover them up.

It was very hot when we were there so airy capris were a blessing.

When we were in Egypt, my sister and i both wore dresses with sweaters to cover our shoulders.

 

Be aware - sand fleas are pretty bad (or at least they were at the time of year we were there) near the Pyramids. I wouldn't recommend sandals. Socks and shoes are best there.

we are going in Nov.

when were you there? maybe they are year round creatures?

would bug spray do the trick?

plan to wear slip on shoes, not sandals. don't think I will even pack sandals for this trip, because of the time of year.

any other suggestions for apparel?
