XXX21XXX Posted October 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Does anyone know about a glass bottom boat tour. How much and where do you go to get the tour?
lovevacadays Posted October 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2008 The tender from your ship will take you right to the Marina area. When you get off the tender there will be lots of vendors there with signs advertising all kinds of tours. Won't be a problem finding one that does the glass bottom boat tour. It has been a few years since I did it but I dont think its any more than $20.
ReadyToFloat Posted October 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2008 chloedmom is right... lots of people with signs as you get off the tender right at the pier area. No advance reservations necessary. Note that it's an extended rowboat style and the 'glass bottom' is a 12" x 8' peek through at the bottom of the boat. So, if you've been on a glass bottom boat elsewhere, it might be quite different than other experiences at other locations. Still, it's a good value, particularly when compared to ship excursions. We paid ~$10 for a glass bottom boat tour... which took us near the sea lions, in a small rocky area with fish, and then to Lovers Beach where we got off and spent around 2+ hours. You can rent a snorkel set from the boat company for ~$5-8. Note there are dozens and dozens of boats and drivers, and you will need to catch the same boat back if you get off at Lovers Beach or another area. That can be somewhat interesting. Worth a trip if you have at least a little bit of adventure in you.
disneykins Posted October 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Just did this last week. He wanted $20 per person we got it for $10 each return, and he did maybe 30 minutes around the arch, sea lions and then dropped us at Medano Beach. Walked down to Pueblo Bonita resort, quiet, beer about $3 each covered cost of loungers and umbrella. Boat picked us up at time we had agreed on. No problem. But dont give in to the asking price. Lots of fun. Tony and Debbie
