advice re using Budget car rental on ST Thomas

We will be on the Splendor 1/10/09 E Caribb 7-day cruise. Very experienced with driving in the Caribbean, but our 1st cruise. We've been in STT twice, so plan to rent a car for the day to go where we want. Would prefer to be able use a service located at the pier as on lsland time you can waste alot of time waiting for your pick-up to the rental location. Understand that Budget is the only one at that location, but have read several unreliable reports about Budget. Anyone have any further info about Budget in the past 6 mos? And is it for sure the only one with a location at the pier? Thank you for your help.

Hi frozen north...I'll respond even though we rented from Budget in October 07'...

The Budget rental is within easy walking distance from the pier...walk straight through Havensight Mall and you'll walk right into it. I believe we paid $70ish for our jeep and put a lil' gas back into it before we dropped it off...was well worth it! We drove to Cokie Beach, Sapphire Beach & Magen's Bay...also drove around the island for a little bit...had plenty of time to wander around and do some shopping after we dropped the jeep off...Good luck and Happy Cruising:)

I don't recall seeing another rental place. but then we was only looking for Budget:rolleyes: Did you try to google car rentals for St Thomas yet? Good Luck.

We used Budget on our Glory cruise last month. I had no problems. They had my car ready to go when we got there. It takes about 5 minutes to walk there from the ship. Just follow the signs for the taxis, and Budget is right across the street.
