purescottish Posted October 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Though I have never sailed on the QE2, I am strictly an RCCL girl LOL...it was quite a sight to see her in my home town of Edinburgh, she is doing a 40th anniversary farewell tour before she goes off to Dubai to become a floating hotel, I must admit I had a lump in my throat when I saw her..... she is beautiful. and I'm sure there's a lot of memories out there wendy xx
Cruiserccl Posted October 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2008 I've always wanted to cruise on the smaller older ships. I really wanted to cruise on the Empress of the seas before she left but being a kid and all it was impossible. Im sure a loooooot of memories out there! Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted October 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I think its really nice she gets to get a grand finale year. I'm looking forward to seeing her in Dubai. Just think about the SS Norway, they didn't even realize it was her final year, not even her final voyage. :(

Just think about the SS Norway, they didn't even realize it was her final year, not even her final voyage. :( There is a huge difference here between the QE2 and the Norway and why one is still in service and one not. Carnival Corporation took good care of the QE2 and NCL let the Norway die a slow death of disrepair.
