New Orleans Hotels - Free shuttle to port?

Ahoy Cruisers,

 

We will be sailing out of New Orleans on 4/24/05. We would like to know a decent HOTEL to stay in New Orleans for a couple of days, precruise, that is within close proximity to the cruise dock, and perhaps has a free shuttle. My hubby just found out N.O. is having a jazz festival during that time. Any ideas, suggestions, your experience and what you did would be appreciated.

Hi. Not sure as to how much help this info will be, but I will offer it anyhow. :o

We are cruising during Sugar Bowl weekend from New Orleans. Our trusted TA managed to find rooms available at the Prytania Park Hotel for our group, which just happens to be less than a mile or so from the pier. (We are sailing on the Conquest Jan 9th.) We have the rate of $99/per night. Parking is $12.95 and that also includes parking while on the cruise. (Parking is in the hotel parking lot, which is next to the hotel. It is uncovered, but patrolled by security 24/7.) We are taking a taxi to the the pier. Prytania Park Hotel does have a website if you want to look it up.
