MamaTene Posted October 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2008 Recently had opportunity to upgrade from a GTY VF to GTY SZ suite for our upcoming cruise on Nov 29. Noticed that there are only 2 such cabins on the entire ship therefore doubtful we will actually end up in one of them. Anybody ever stayed in one? Balcony looks like it zig zags with the flow of the deck. Are these two cabins on a hump? Any info appreciated.
scoobydu33 Posted October 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2008 We also booked an SZ guarantee. They are on a bump out on the ship and the deck looks much bigger because of this. From what I have read on the boards, the likelihood of actually getting that cabin is low since this cabin category is considered a "holding" for suites and you will probably be upgraded to SY or SS. Have a great cruise. We are sailing a week before you and get off the ship the day you board.
MamaTene Posted October 17, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 17, 2008 Scooby....you folks have a great roll call going from what I have read so far. Hope you get upgraded to at least an SC...bigger cabin and bigger balcony! Have a great cruise over turkey day and leave that ship in one piece for us! LOL! Williebill Posted October 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2008 Both of you hopefully will leave the ship in great condition for the 12/9 Pancamdamers. Bill
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2008 You will probably get upgraded to another cabin.
minniegirl Posted October 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2008 We are also on the Nov 29 cruise on the Zuiderdam and did exactly the same thing today - upgraded from a guaranteed VF to the SZ and I saw the same two rooms and figured we would get bumped up just a bit. It will be interesting to see where we land!
scoobydu33 Posted October 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2008 I have been checking daily and still no cabin assignment for my 11/19, Zuiderdam cruise to the Panama Canal. Will let you know when I find out and if the upgrade fairy has been kind to us.

Palms2Pines2Sea Posted October 20, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2008 SZ guarantees almost always land in an SY or SS. All 3 are great categories, and in great locations too.
Spot Posted October 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2008 We did an SZ Guarantee on the Oosterdam last December and got an SA directly across the hall from the Neptune Lounge. With either category of stateroom you will have a wonderful cruise.
Azllama Posted October 22, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 22, 2008 We are on the Oosterdam, Nov 15 sailing. We choose cabin 6117 sz cat. It was not a guarantee cabin. We received our docs 3 weeks ago and they state that we are in that cabin. Does this mean when we get to check in at the dock, they still might change our cabin? azllama
Spot Posted October 22, 2008 #14 Share Posted October 22, 2008 If you chose a specific cabin then that is the cabin you will have upon embarkation - I know you're excited. Have a great cruise!!
SabreSailor Posted October 22, 2008 #15 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Can someone who's stayed in an SZ cabin give me a feel for what it's like - maybe vs. a regular SY or SS cabin? Smaller? Still has the separate tub and stall shower and two basins?
