Transatlantic-Southern Crossing????

We're on the Carnival Splendor next week embarking from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale. We have an idea of the weather/temps in Europe (Rome, Barcelona, Funchal, Palma, Malaga). Expecting daytime temps in the mid 60's to mid 70's with cooler evenings about 50-55................What might we expect during the 5 day crossing before we hit St. Maarten? Shorts, sweatshirts, bathing suits??????? Thanks....Karen

I have done the same crossing twice before. We spent the 5 days crossing, at the pool bathing in the sun:D It was really warm.

This why I love the Southerly route.:)

we have done this 3 yrs in a row and are leaving rome on nov. 6th on the freedom. sunny and 65-70 in italy, clear sunny and 55 in livorno. light rain all day in cannes, rain and drizzle in morning in barcelona cloudy in the afternoon but temp nice. clear and 68-70 in cartegena spain, 70-75 in gibraltar, 75-78 in casablanca. 75 in madiera then 65-68 daily for six days crossing. patches of clouds everyday but no rain. once we went north to lisbon 75, the azores 72, and bermuda 70. have a fantastic time!

Did the Southern route in November 06. We had good weather throughout, with only one day of rain and clouds. Seas were normal. However the Navigator (we were on the RSSC Voyager) which was two or three days ahead of us reported high seas and a storm for a couple of days. This means, I suppose, there is no guarantee, even on the Southern route!!

In Spain we had temperatures around 23-25C and Madeira was 25C-plus at the port, but much colder in the mountains. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale and it was 80F.

We're also sailing on the Freedom on Nov 6th, but aren't going to some of the ports you've mentioned.....Were you just spoeaking in genereal, or have they changed the itinerary?
