Muzak on QV

I was on the QM2 for the 9/21 crossing and I didn't notice any piped in music. I'd heard that there would be in all the public areas, so I was kind of listening for it . Specifically there wasn't any music in those narrow corridors on 2 or 3 deck where you can sit in chairs and stare out at the sea. I sat there a couple of times reading and the only distraction was the endless sea! That said, there could've been times that it was playing in the (ugly..) Grand Lobby area and I hadn't noticed.

Grand lobby is cool place to make grand entrance by sliding down bannister! It sets you apart from the others as someone special. gunther recommends it. You will then have a different point of view about aesthetics of lobby for you would have experienced it, in all its grandeur, from a different angle especially if you fall off bannister. Gunther

gunther the but of cmate joke frown. gunther

Gunther is a German chap

Who’s sailed upon the oceans

And when he isn’t talking crap

He has some crazy notions

He thinks the Queens Room serves free beer

And the ladies love his patter

But the truth is something else I fear,

For Gunther's mad’s a hatter.

He talks no language known to man,

Writes verses by the dozen,

But I think he comes from Kazakhstan,

And he’s really Borat’s cousin

I was on Queen Mary 2 last week and they always had this terrible rather loud background music in the dining room. The same piece of music would come back several times during a meal. Either some cheap bits of classics (yes the Lakme British Airways tune) or some nasty sax tunes.

Also the Kings Court was polluted with even worse popular canned tunes which seem to repeat themselves all over again.

Don't know who is responsible for this in the Cunard office. But if you think your guests haven't got the intelligence to live with background noise. Give them at least some variety. And do not serve them with piano music in mineur during meal times.

Last year the sundeck on the Century next to the pool was out of bounds for me too. Nasty cheap loud music all the time

Oh well, I seem to be crying out in the desert I suppose........

That sounds absolutely nauseating!!! Last March, there was no canned music at all, that I can remember on the QM2. At dinner, in the Britannia Restaurant, there was a live string quartet playing classical music and it gave dinner a very elegant feeling. I can't remember any music at all in King's Court, either. Why on earth would Cunard ever think that its passengers would enjoy canned music? Cunard truly has an elegant ship there, and something like canned music can easily ruin all of that elegance!!!

Wise up, Cunard!!

.... wrong squared to the zillionth power to believe that gunther heed is anyone else other than gunther.....

That nice Mr Poirot says that any any so-called Gunther who knows the word 'zillionth' is taking you all for the proverbial ride. Full marks to the poster suggesting the Kraut version of Borat. Yes/No ?

Hey Foxy, you old rogue. What has tempted you out of hiding on the dancy thread?

I see you haven't yet been dragged kicking and screaming onto Planet PC! :D

One aspect of the piped music which has an irritation factor of 9/10 is the fact that the pop type stuff is really bad cover versions of very well known songs. So it is always just that little bit 'off'. It's like an itch that you can't scratch.

Where's Planet PC? In England's pleasant pastures we still call a spade a spade. And we still have a Duckin' Stool for liberal wets and strident feminists. It's the only language they understand!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just finished 12 day Med cruise on QV and no deck music except at sail away in each port --live band and very tasteful. Otherwise music only in lounges/ bars--piano players mostly except in Queens Room- orchestra.
