Star's speciality restaurants

Does anybody know if a child (age 9) pays full price at the speciality restaurants?

Our daughter was 9 when we were on the Star in January, and she paid full price - but she also ordered from the 'regular' menu. I believe if the child orders from the shipwide kids' menu there is no charge.

This question comes up often and it seems like there is no cut and dry answer. Yes, I know they can order off the kids menu and not pay, but whether they pay full price or 1/2 if they order off the adult menu seems to fluctuate from ship to ship and sailing to sailing..

On the Star last week in the Italian restaurant my 9 year old son was charged only half price for his meal.
