It occurred to me that some readers may not be aware that one of the Holland America Captains posts daily on a blog while he is aboard.

Currently he is the master of the Veendam and it is in the Amazon. He provides a very interesting perspective of cruising and the itineraries and also, occasionally, some helpful info re the ports he visits.

for this link. I took this cruise in 2005 and reading this blog helps me remember a wonderful cruise. I especially remember seeing the green flash on our first night at see and how wonderfully friendly the people of Brazil were. This year I am returning to South America on a "Round the Horn" cruise. Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't realized he was back aboard ship. His blog is very interesting reading with lots of "behind the scene" info you rarely get.
