trvlgal619 Posted October 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Hola! I have a question about what to wear when visiting the Vatican, and other churches and cathedrals. Can girls/women wear capris? My teenage daughter is not big into jeans or slacks. and can teen boys wear those long shorts that are in style? My teen son lives in those shorts like all the rest and only owns 2 pairs of jeans. Both styles go below the knee. Is this appropriate or will we be turned away? Thanks for your help!:D
Rare cruisemom42 Posted October 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2008 First, the Vatican is more strict about enforcing the rules (knees and shoulders covered) than most other churches/cathedrals in Italy. In most places, what you describe will probably pass muster. It may sound inconsistent, but I have not heard of women or girls in capris being turned away at the Vatican. I have, however, read about and seen men or boys in long shorts turned away, even when the knees were covered. It doesn't happen every time, but I wouldn't take a chance. Many people recommend the zip-off pants that become long shorts. Just carry the leg portions with you and zip them on before joining the line.
