It just Dawned on me! Review NYC to Bermuda 10/12-10/19 Long, Long, Long...

Do you remember what movies were being shown on the Dawn that week?

I definitely don't remember them all...some of the older movies included Casino Royale, Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End, and Balboa.

For new releases they had Ironman and What Happens in Vegas (Ithink that's the title...w/ Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher).

Obviously there were more movies, but that's all I'm coming up with at the moment.

Hi Cubechick! I enjoyed reading your review. I am glad it was a lot better than your 2 dayer! I know you were on the Dream to Bermuda, the Majesty to Bermuda, and now the Dawn to Bermuda....Sooooooo, which ship and dock is the best in your opinion and why? Is the Dawn worth giving up an extra day in Bermuda and not docking in St. George's?

Since the Dawn doesn't leave until 5:00 pm on Friday you really are getting three days in Bermuda. Since Majesty leaves St. Georges at noon on day four there really isn't time to do anything on that final day besides wander around the port area. Plus Dawn is much closer to the South Shore Beaches which we prefer. I would choose the Dawn in a heartbeat.

Hi Coka! To me St. George's is definitely the preferable port. You can't surpass it's charm, the fact that three beaches are w/in walking distance, and I find that there's just more to see. You have shopping, restaurants (as does Dockyard), but also St. Peter's Church, the Unfinished Church, Somer's Garden, Fort St. Catherine and Gates Fort.

I agree w/ Kewlguy that the South Shore beaches are spectacular but also crowded. From St. George we tend to take the bus to John Smith's Bay Beach, which is a superb beach and tends to be very peaceful (about a 1/2 hour ride).

Also, from the east end of the island you have quick access to the Crystal Caves, the free caves a the Grotto Bay Resort and, of course, the original Swizzle Inn! ;)

As much as I loved the Dawn, I would pounce on the change to go to St. George again. For me, cruising to Bermuda is all about the destination, and I don't really care how I get there. As much as it pains me, I'll actually look at HAL in 2010 as they're supposed to sail from NYC to St. George and Hamilton.

Finally, I prefer having the three nights in Bermuda versus the two. Although they leave at noon on that final day, because everything is so close, we're able to hit the beach for a couple of hours and do our shopping that final day.

So for me, although the Dawn is the far superior ship, she isn't worth giving up the peferable dock in Bermuda and that extra night.

That's why we're going to Alaska in June of next year rather than taking the Spirit from Boston to Bermuda.

We just returned from our Oct. 19th Bermuda cruise on the Dawn and our experience was very similar to cubechick. The beautiful Dawn is in immaculate shape with an efficent and happy crew under Hotel Director Hugo from Belgium.

We look forward to returning to our favorite island on our favorite ship on Oct. 4, 2009.

Finally, I totally agree with cubechick on the Dawn's beautiful central atrium with its soaring glass elevators, excellent music and that outstanding stained glass ceiling above Salsa, visible from the atrium.

Impossible! I won't be there.:D

.

So ML, looks like she's already writing both of us off as ancient history. We spend over a year with her on the web and as soon as we're home, both Aimee & Paris are looking for a new BFF
