mikenna Posted October 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2008 Hi, I'm fairly new to cruising and HAL, but am considering a cruise with 2 other friends on Eurodam in February. What is the cost for adding a 3rd person to the cabin? I've heard it's about 50% of the regular price per person, but I cannot find comfirmation on HAL's site. Is that correct? Thanks for your help
beyoung Posted October 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2008 We booked an sy suite on the Noordam for this summer and first and second were several thousand each but the third person was only 499.00!!! Plus we got a 100.00 on board credit!
6rugrats Posted October 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2008 It depends on the cruise. The base price for the third person can be as low as $99.00. Go to HAL's webpage and do a dummy booking for three people on the cruise you are interested in and see what your price would be.

Thanks for your help They vary depending on the sailing and ship, but there are some wicked cheap rates out there. I'm booked on a 10-day cruise, and my 3rd person fare is less than $200! medfordgirl Posted October 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2008 when I booked my cruise for November back in July online, the 3rd person (our son) stated $88 but on the printout of the receipt it says $49 then fuel charge of $28 and tax/fee charge of $70.78. For that price, how could we not bring him.
beyoung Posted October 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2008 I was thrilled with the 499.00 since we are sailing high season, last year on another line we paid almost three times that for the third in our cabin and it was not as nice as the SY suite we now have. jtl513 Posted October 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2008 Of course the 3rd person will be charged the full $11/day Hotel Service Charge.
matondo Posted October 24, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 24, 2008 Shop around to different on-line TAs. A lot offer the really low fare for 3 & 4 (ie $88 and up plus fees) but some charge more. Doesn't make sense but I found it out when we were shopping for this cruise.
kwhite7 Posted October 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 24, 2008 I booked a Caribbean cruise that leaves Ft. Lauderdale on Jan. 2nd sailing on the Maasdam with three people in the cabin. For this particular cruise the third person's fare was free, they was no charge for them except for taxes and the fuel supplement. We ended up splitting the whole fare three ways and ended up only paying $460 a person for a 7 night cruise. Talk about a bargain.
mikenna Posted October 24, 2008 Author #10 Share Posted October 24, 2008 thanks, everyone, the information is very helpful. KWHITE7 - When did you book your Jan cruise? Recently?
ekerr19 Posted October 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 24, 2008 The 3rd/4th person is often free or just $99 - we've bought our kids tons of times and gotten this deal.
abb4k Posted October 25, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 25, 2008 It's a heck of a deal. We were attracted to the $99 fare for our 3-year-old daughter. What's weird is that some of the sister cruise lines owned by CCL, such as Princess, do not offer such a deal. (HAL trying to market itself to families more, perhaps, whereas Princess doesn't need to?). We thoroughly enjoyed Princess a couple years ago, but the $99 HAL fare swayed us to give HAL a try this time around.
kwhite7 Posted October 25, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 25, 2008 I booked this cruise almost three weeks ago, so it was pretty recent. It was a great deal and couldnt pass it up.

Our SY cabin for 3 in April 2009 is more than $200 cheaper than the lowest priced Jr Suite (Cat 11) on Carnival sailings from FL for the same week, even using the military rate on Carnival.
