Hurry&Wait Posted October 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Our cruise isn't until June, 2009. Thinking about getting married in Grand Cayman. I would plan this outside of Carnival. Any thoughts on the situation? This would be a very small wedding and really only a ceremony on the beach etc. Thanks.:D
twinkletoes4445 Posted October 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! :) You might contact Celebrations. They've been featured on the Travel Channel several times and from the programs I watched, they can handle a small or large wedding. Or you might contact the major hotels there and see if they have a department that will handle the paperwork and arrange the wedding for you. Also, if you have someone on the island helping you, besides the paperwork, and getting things organized, they'll also make transportation arrangements for you, so all you have to do is get off the ship and not worry about a thing. You also need to check with the US and see what their requirements are (concerning being married out of the US). My cousin was married in Jamaica, and it seems like she also had to have a ceremony here. But I don't remember the details, and this may not apply to GC. But it's worth asking about the details. :) http://www.celebrationsltd.com/ I'd try these hotels that are on 7 Mile Beach... The Ritz-Carlton http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/GrandCayman/Default.htm The Westin Casuarina http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1095 Marriott Grand Cayman Beach http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/gcmgc-grand-cayman-marriott-beach-resort/ The Hyatt Regency http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147367-d184695-Reviews-Grand_Cayman_Beach_Suites-Seven_Mile_Beach_Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html Here's some more info on weddings... http://www.gocayman.ky/cayman-island-weddings.html One time when we were there, there was a wedding going on at the Hyatt. It was LOVELY. Simple, but absolutely so romantic. :)

Rare jbpinkie Posted November 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2008 I found the company listed above a little too pricey for just 2 of us, which is what we are doing next week :) I used Joy. Her Blog is full of information and has so many tips for marrying on the island, that wether you book with her or not it is great reading. www.joyofweddings.blogspot.com Enjoy Jenna
mrsfuzzmo Posted November 4, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Don't want to be a wet blanket, but just do know that Grand Cayman is the most missed port due to weather conditions. I'd hate for you to plan your perfect beach wedding, and then you couldn't get off the ship due to waves. You'd need a back up if indeed you could not tender. Maybe see if the ship's captain would be able to marry you if you miss Cayman. Grand Cayman is a tender port and there is no other option to get to land. If it's too rough to tender (which happens quite often) the ship will sail and you will be spending your wedding day onboard the ship.

For us, it was the only choice that would be legal for in and out the same day and count back in the states. If we can't do it, the lady I am using refunds all but $50 if we can't make it. We plan to have a "commitment ceremony" on board, and still consider that our date, and then go to the courthouse when we come home just for the legal part. LOL But a good point to consider. I am being optimistic though.. so everyone keep your fingers crossed for 11/11 :D

Also, let me know which beach you selected to have the ceremony. While I understand that the tender could be an issue we have been "illegal" for 5 years so if our date is interrupted, it would not be the end of the world:o
jean-lynd Posted November 12, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 12, 2008 My daughter got married on the beach at the Reef Grill in July. They didn't use a wedding planner - they made all of the arrangements on their own. All of the vendors that they worked with were wonderful. Here are the pictures - may give you some ideas. Congratulations and enjoy! http://community.webshots.com/user/mikeleyva?vhost=community

Have you ever considered what it may be like trying to get a divorce from a wedding in Grand Cayman? The same as it would be in any other state in the union. States dictate divorce laws. The question would be 'does Grand Cayman consider the state divorce if someone planned to marry again in GC'? Of course the answer is - who cares:rolleyes:
