Excursion and town enough time?

Was thinking of doing the cave tubing or ruins on our cruise in May. I would also like to have time to look in the shops also though, and maybe have a drink. Is there enough time to do both? This is our first cruise and the cruise website says both of the excursions is 6-7 hours long. The ship is only there for 8. Do they really take that long?

If you are talking about shopping in the shops in the area where you tender into, you may have a few minutes to shop but be warned that there are many, many shops there.

Shopping time (and drinking time) will have much to do with how many ships (and the size of the ships) that are in port with you. And also remember that Belize is a tender port and if you are on a long excursion that gets back to the shopping village only an hour or so before sail away you will be facing a long line at the tender dock to get back on the ship.

Have been in Belize with as few as 2 ships and as many as 5 or 6 ships.
