Need advise on hotels in Miami or Ft lauderdal with shuttles to Port of Miami

Hi, We are cruising on the Norwegian Pearl on 1/25/09. We have been

looking for cheap airfare into Miami but haven't found any. We want

a non-stop flight. So instead we are probably going to fly into Fort

Lauderdale airport and take a shuttle to Miami. We also have considered

staying in Ft Laud. and leaving in the AM for our cruise at the Port of

Miami. But we would need a hotel in FT Laud or Miami that is in a safe

area with nearby restaurants and stores and preferably continental

breakfast (free). And we would need shuttle service to the Port of

Miami for 1/25/09. We are flying in a day ahead of time.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is going to be

my Mom, sister and me. Ages 65,43,and 44. So we want someplace

clean,friendly and safe. Thanks.

none of the FLL hotels will shuttle you to miami. and few in miami will have a shuttle.

the biscayne bay marriott is nice....you could cab it to Bayside. you could also stay at the holiday inn port of miami. you'd have to try goshuttle or something to get from FLL to miami.

Coconut Grove is a nice area to walk around.

If you want to stay in FLL area...the renaissance, Hyatt place, and spring hill suites are all nice....(no breakfast at the ren though unless you book a rate that includes it)

keep reading around...if you find a post by bequia, click in her signature for a link to her blog......lots of info there about FLL and getting around.
