Casino On the Star

Recommended Posts

Are there any video poker players who know what kind of machines they have in the casino on the Star? We're hoping for Super Times Pay (with a multiplier) or Multi Strike or even just Triple Play - something other than the single hand machines.

Also, is the Texas Hold 'em live game a limit or no limit game and what are the blinds?

And lastly, I read that some of the NCL ships have Pai Gow. Would that include the Star?

Thanks for your help!

I wish I could help, but I don't even know what those things mean :o ... I know I saw a bunch of video poker machines. I am only responding with non-information because I am wondering if the lack of repsonses means it doesn't get well used? We don't stay up til all hours, but we went there one evening (another story) and it was empty. Pretty empty every time we walked past too, but I would expect that during the day but I was a little surprised between 7pm and 8pm - I think there were about 2 people in there. And unfortunately, the crew member staffing the cash window could've been a robot for how friendly and pleasant she was (not.)

We were on the Star a couple of weeks ago and they did not have Pai Gow Poker. They did have a $1 / $2 Texas Hold'em cash game and 3 tournaments (on seas days only). As for video poker, boy, were those machines on overtime as everytime I wanted to play I couldn't find an open machine. I did see one triple-play machine - not sure if I saw a multi-strike machine. Hope this info helps.

I play Video Poker but I have not been on the Star. On the Dawn and the Gem they have triple play Five Play and ten Play Ranging from .25 to $1 on the single hand they also have $2 and $5.

Here is a photo of a few Poker machines I found online:

Have a great Cruise

As a rule the casino is very slow while people are dining and during show times. Most ships I've been on route the people from the show THROUGH the casino so they will stop and play. Usually around 10:00 pm things get busy in the casino. Thanks for your response.

Yes, now that you point that out, it makes alot of sense, and I think that was the case on our Princess cruise (where it seemed there were always people in the casino). The Star's casino is more tucked away.

The biggest problem with the Stars casino is that the ship was built for HI cruises, therefore built with no casino. Once it was taken out of service for the HI itinenary, they "rearranged" areas to create the space that is now the casino. It is small and just doesn't have the feel of other NCL casino's. You can have fun in it, but just know the ship was not designed with a casino in it, and that is why it is some what of an awkward casino. She has a very nice staff, or at least had one when we were onboard the Star last May/June.

I know it was an afterthought. And I thoroughly agree the staff on the ship are fabulous (not in the casino but the dealers etc are overworked and underpaid and always exhausted- poor things but that is another subject). So was the rest of the ship/experience etc equally great. That is why we are set to sail on her again!!! I guess what I am trying to say is if gambling is your intention, not the beautiful ship and relaxing on the water, then no need to sail on this ship as I do not see the point of wasting the days in that cess-pit.. when, like I said, Reno is cheaper and right here in the US!!:)

Without a doubt there are better NCL casinos for sure.

I would play if there was a casino that was nice and classy with ocean views. I know they exist- we worked on a ship that had one like what I described. It was on the top floor too- watch the waves while you play- yeah, baby!!!:)

That is how the Pearls casino is . big windows of a great ocean view.
