Lufthansa v. Canada Air; 1-Way v. RT Qs

Hi! I appreciate the thought, scottbee, but I'm kind of with the others, on that. In my case, the round-trip fare was just under $1,000 pp, whereas the same flight, one-way, is almost $5,400! So, I'd be looking at a HUGE "penalty," given that there are 2 of us!!!

I did find some one-way flights that were about $1,200, but they had 2 stops vs the 1 stop I have on my flight. Frankly, for less money, I'm happy to get home quicker.

Also, BTW, I did find cheaper flights into SFO, but when factoring in the cost of an overnight "park & fly" hotel + charges for parking more than 2 weeks + bridge tolls + gas + meals during the overnight stay + aggravation of having to drive 1 1/2 hours home after an international flight, the difference (on what could be quantified) was about $200, and the last part overrode that savings.

It's NUTS that there is such a huge difference in one-way vs round-trip flights! As it is, I'm paying a LOT! :o

Thanks, again, for all your help! ~ LL

IF you haven't booked your flight yet, book the return flight around late September-October. That time frame is usually one of the cheaper ones to fly to/from Europe, spreading out the return MAY save you some money and cause less scrutiny when you ditch the second half of the ticket and who knows, you may want to take a repo cruise the opposite direction and actually be able to USE the return. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

Now THAT is a great idea! Unfortunately, I booked the return for about 2 weeks later ... not even thinking about that. :( At least I know that I wouldn't need the return, since I'm doing a couple of California Coastal cruises in Fall '09. However, that is great advice, and I hope someone else can benefit from it!!! Thanks! :D
