DIANE10 Posted November 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2004 Am reading how rough the water will be there in November? Don't swim etc. Is that true? We love the beach and snorkeling. Any alternatives for the day ?
Divetex Posted November 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2004 Don't worry about it, Diane. There's almost always a calm place to swim or snorkel. The north and northeast side of virtually every island in the state is rough during the winter. The southeast side, on the other hand, is usually much calmer. We've been to most of the islands in May several times, and are going back right after Thanksgiving this year. We'll be snorkeling/swimming either on Poipu Beach or at Barking Sands. Have a great time!
vivian02 Posted November 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2004 We did a Hawaiian cruise last late November and early December and it was just great. On Kaui if you head south from the port I think you will be OK for swimming or snorkeling. If you head North the scenery is really beautiful but! You will know if you are getting into an area that has problems when it rains. There will be warning signs and the beaches will be posted with no swimming signs. We made it all the way to Kea beach and it was just beautifu. The waves were huge! Have a nice trip. Tim and Cathy. Any alternatives for the day ?We're from Kauai and now live on the mainland. We will be doing a NCL Hawaii cruise 12-4-04.Lydgate Park near Kapaa has protective rock barrier and lagoon is always calm. If get really rough weather waves will crash over wall. Get plenty fish, so bring bread and they will surround you. Poipu the best for boogie boarding. If you see really big waves, wave at my two grandsons who will surely be riding 'em.
