twocats Posted November 19, 2008 #26 Share Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks for posting the picture, now I get it, you are really sitting at a table for 4 (or 6) depending on which way you look, to your left or right. :D Carole
Sandytoes Posted November 20, 2008 #27 Share Posted November 20, 2008 If you choose traditional, in theory you aren't allowed in anytime unless you plan to switch permanently. In practice, it seems that sometimes the maitre d' checks cruise cards and turns traditional diners away, but sometimes this doesn't happen. However, please consider how unfair this is to anytime diners who may have their wait times extended because additional traditional diners show up, thus effectively taking up 2 seats each for the evening. Anytime diners can't just crash traditional, can you imagine the chaos! However, traditional diners can always go to the buffet or one of the specialty restaurants if they don't make their assigned time or want to try something different. Maitre D's do not turn pax away if they're assigned Traditional. He only checks it to see your cabin number. Traditional diners can and do try Anytime without switching. MaryPoppinz Posted November 20, 2008 #28 Share Posted November 20, 2008 There are a variety of ways to do this -- speak to the maitre d' at embarkation, arrange it when you arrive to your first dinner, call the dining line (<-don't recommend that last one -- do they actually answer that??) or show up and wait for the table of your choosing. Lately we have just shown up the first evening when we get hungry (<-a relative term on a cruise) and waited. We have had the same headwaiter several times, and on the way out, he offers us a reservation for the remainder of the cruise. Otherwise, we show up and wait. I think that if you are fussy about your table arrangements (as in asking to be seated only at a table for two) that you should give the staff some flexibility (as in waiting a few minutes for such a table.) And, yes, Sandytoes is correct, gauche people who want to take up chairs in both dining rooms, can and do make themselves at home in Anytime Dining occasionally. Should they? Absolutely not. Verycatchy7939 Posted November 20, 2008 #29 Share Posted November 20, 2008 on the sea princess on 29th .I find it odd that traditional dining people can be selfish do what they want and take space in anytime dining area.More shocking is the wait staff don't do anything about it. Mind what i have experienced from princess so far they are incompetent at best, but this sound like lazy wait staff not doing there job. Traditional dinners if it so wonderful and u love u wait staff so much why do u change? seems that it not as great as you say....LOL or maybe not as convenient, but there again you don't care as you are the elite of the cruise or so u think
Fairport Posted November 20, 2008 #30 Share Posted November 20, 2008 We have never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table for two except on the CB. If we find a waiter we like we will ask the Maitre d' for a reservation for a time that we feel is convenient for us for the rest of the cruise.
