What perks do we get w/ Capt Club?

Hi all

I've asked several questions re: our first Century cruise coming up in Feb and everyone has been a great help. Here's another I thought of if you don't mind :D

We are RCCL Platinum Crown & Anchors members so when we booked our Century cruise got complimentary enrollement into Capt Club. They mentioned getting the invitation to the Capt's party but what else will we receive on the cruise? Are there coupon booklets like w/ RCCL?

Also, are we at the same level as our platinum level at RCCL or just the basic beginning level?

Thanks a bunch!!!!

You'll be the equivalent tier on X as on RCCL.

Truth is there aren't many perks with Captains Club. Sad, but true. The coupon books on RCCL actually give you free things (at least my Diamond ones do). With X there is always something you have to buy to get something else.

We've been promised a revamp and some meaningful perks for years. Haven't seen them yet!

They do have a few Captains Club events. At the highest level, and depending on cruise length, these usually include a Captains Club reception, drinks provided, an Officer's Reception on a different night, drinks provided, an "elegant tea" in the dining room or specialty restaurant, one or two scheduled tours such as a galley tour and a backstage tour. Can't remember if there are others. Occasionally there may be other events or tours we've been invited to as well that were not on the printed schedule Captains Club members receive. They sometimes include gifts such as candy or flowers for the room but these aren't published benefits and not consistently supplied.

As Tuggers says there is a coupon book which is more marketing than anything else, but depending on your interest and needs some might be useful. Includes things, like Casino match coupons, laundry discounts, bonus minutes on internet packages, bottled wine discounts and other less valuable offerings. Only truly "free" coupon I can recall in our Elite book was a free bingo card. We don't often play but on a cruise with a lot of sea day's we'll use it.

I just went to RCCL website and we do get the same level membership.

One of the perks listed is a "behind the scenes tour".

We are on a 5 night cruise (Key West, Grand Caymen ports) on the Century in Feb. Anyone know what, if any, behind the scenes tour we will be offered and how it is offered? Do we get an invitation or do we have to go to the guest relations desk? Do tell!!!!!

Thanks

I don't think they will be Elite. So I don't think they will get anything 'free' in their coupon book.

The six piece box of candy, flowers, etc are, I believe, Elite. To me they have little value.

RCCL's coupon book gives such things as a free cocktail in the souvenir glass, free photo of any size in the photo gallery (not stock photos of the ship, pictures of YOU!:)), etc. X's coupon book is going to be a surprise after Royals.

Behind the scene refers to behind the scene with the singers and dancers, dressing rooms, etc.

You should get an invitation in your room.

Guest relations usually does not know much about Captains Club. Go to the Captains Club Hostess.

I am confused - we too are Platinum on RCCL and have booked our first cruise this spring on Celebrity. I asked the Celebrity reservationist if our platinum level would be respected on Celebrity. She told me that it isn't until after your first cruise on Celebrity that they respect your RCCL standing. I asked her if that meant we would not even be extended an invite to the Captain's party for repeat cruisers and she said no we wouldn't.

Is this information incorrect? It is disappointing to have spent the amount of $$ we have on RCCL and not get any credit when sailing the other line they own.

Thanks.

brenderlou, yes you will have the corresponding tier. I believe that will make you Select on X. Diamond on Royal gets you Elite on X. But you can't go out of your tier. For instance I have many more than 25 cruises on X but because they have nothing beyond Elite I only qualify for Diamond, not Diamond Plus. To get Diamond Plus I would have to have 25 cruises on Royal. Now if X ever gets an Elite Plus or some such, Royal would allow me to be Diamond Plus.

Clear as mud? Sometimes I think thats intentional!:)

From what I've read on these boards that was incorrect. From what I've read the procedure would be to call Celebrity Captains Club at their phone number you can get from the Celebrity web site and register with your RCCL information. Let us know what they say!

Amen! Never ask an X 'reservationist' anything you want to know about cruising that isn't written down word for word on a script. 75% of them have never even stepped foot on a ship (which is X's failing, not theirs).

The suggestion to call Captain's Club is the way to go.

It says in the literature (which is, I'm sure where your telephone operator got it from), that you must complete your first cruise to get any CC perks. But that is referring to first time X cruisers which you are not considered to be by virtue of your RCCL sailings. My first Royal sailing I was afforded all the perks due a Diamond member.

Lsimon is correct that this must be done through the Capt's Club and not a CVP (booking) agent.

We have C&A Diamond status and are taking our first Celebrity cruise Dec.1st. I simply call the Capt's Club 800 # (760-0654) after we had booked this cruise and provided the agent with our C&A # and reservation #. She enrolled us as Elite member immediately. In fact she said that she also took care of the C&A so I didn't have to provide her with anything more as she was able to enroll us in the Capt's Club using the information from our C&A account. My membership status as Elite was indicated immediately when I logged onto My Celebrity and Capt's Club account. The Elite status for us was also indicated beside our names on our cruise document for oue upcoming Celebrity cruise.

THANK YOU!! You folks on these boards are the smartest! Just called the 800 # given in the post above and we are registered in the Captain's Club and will indeed receive the appropriate level benefits on this sailing!!!

Thanks again!!
