Need help with flight times/airports

A group of 6 of us are cruizing spring break week (April 5-12) on the Mariner. We have found the cheapest fares would be flying into Burbank. (We are flying out of Sacramento). With the extra shuttle time...we would love some advice on flight times. If we arrive at 1:05pm and then allow 1 1/2 hours to get our bags and take a shuttle to San Pedro, is that enough time to check in, take pictures and get on board without being rushed?? Does Southwest usually run on time?? What is the latest we can board the ship?? Also, would 11:55am flight home be too early? We fly home Easter Sunday and are trying to get home ASAP.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

why cut it that close.........take the outgoing flight at 10am and the 1:30pm flight home.

That's cutting it too close. You have to be checked in and onboard the ship no later than 3:30pm, and Burbank is quite a ways away from San Pedro. A 1pm flight into LAX or Long Beach even would be cutting it close IMO, so when you add the extra travel time to Burbank I would go for a much earlier arrival.

You might see this earlier thread about Burbank http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=874134&highlight=

Thanks for your help.

We are still trying to decide which airport. Is it faster to do Burbank with shorter security lines or LAX with longer lines but closer to the port??? We were really trying to get home for Easter at a reasonable time but obviously we don't want to miss our flight!!! :D

One thing to note is that the shuttle will cost much more coming from/to Burbank than if you flew into LAX or Long Beach, which are both much closer to San Pedro. Also something to consider is that if you're flying in the day of your cruise, you will need to be checking in at your terminal at least 90 minutes before the sailaway time. And that is cutting things too close, especially if there is an accident on any of the freeways you will need to take. Even if it's a weekend day, there can be lots of traffic, especially considering it's close to Easter, which means many people traveling. And if there are any other problems (mechanical, weather, labor problems), you may be regretting not coming in the day before.
