scotch by the bottle?

I am given to understand that one cannot take booze on board and cannot buy for room from shop BUT where is the rule about not buying bottles from the bar for your room? Will they sell me a bottle at the bar for the cabin? Also are there mini bars with miniatures? How does one go about entertaining in a suite without booze other than wine or champagne?

they will not sell you a bottle or miniatures and you can order drinks from room service.
