Just curious - re: back-to-back

I don't have one planned (yet) but I was just thinking .......what happens to your luggage on a back to back cruise if you're not in the same stateroom for both trips? Does it have to go off the ship and then back on? Do they store it somewhere? What happens to you? Do you actually get off the ship and then back on or are you allowed to stay on?

Just curious.

Your cabin steward (and/or other members of the housekeeping staff) will help you take your stuff to your new cabin.

The procedure is not the same on every ship or every port. Sometimes the LA or other RC person takes the group of B2B'ers off the ship after everyone else has disembarked, runs you through the get-your-new-SeaPass process, and brings you back on board to await the next set of cruisers. Sometimes you get your new SeaPass in your cabin on the last night of Cruise #1.

In L.A., they make you disembark with everyone else and WAIT to board with the new cruisers.

We did Enchantment B2B 10/23 to 11/1.

If you are lucky enuf to keep the same cabin, your stuff just stays there. If not, your cabin attendant will move it for you. (pack your toiletries, socks, laundry, etc., loose items, etc. Have those bags ready. They will be moved for you. All hanging items in your closet will be hanging in your next cabin, thanks to your CA, and thank him with a few extra $$$). If you have been provided luggage tags for the 2nd part of your B2B, it won't hurt to attach them to your bags . . . just in case.

We were the last to get off EN. They had to clear all others first. It was not a big deal. Actually, kinda interesting to sea how the ship was "cleared", as we waited by the gangway to be the last guests ashore.

We waited maybe 10 minutes, thru customs, on the pier as escorted by an EN Officer, and then we were escorted back on board as the official first guests for the Enchantments's next cruise. A small, modest lunch awaited us, and then off to our 2nd part of our B2B!!!

Caution: Enchantment (and it looks like RCCL) now call B2B's "Consecutive Cruises".

They seem to wanna to do away with the B2B theme, and install instead "CC".

OK, it is their turf. They can call it what they want.

Enjoy your CC!!!

Wow, thanks. Glad I'm I don't have plans to Back to back in LA.

I'm booked on Aug 20th out of Cape Liberty next summer and was just thinking of adding the 5 night previous to that cruise if the price gets "really cheap".

 No harm in dreaming

AGREED! And now that you've mentioned it, does anyone know what the b2b, im sorry, CC, :D, procedure is in Bayonne specifically. As you said, I can continue to dream, and while on the topic I best change my signature, the cruise won't be happening till 2010 and Explorer we're told will probably be gone, so this should all work out well. :(

I thought it differed by port, but apparently not. In L.A. we just stayed on the ship (Serenade). What ship were you on? Maybe it's the combination of ship and port??

At any rate, B2B is THE BEST!!!

The Serenade is doing two different Southern Caribbean routes, doing a B2B here you would have 10 different ports of call, that's 11 if you include Puerto rico (the ship pulls in at 7am and departs at 10pm giving you that whole day for excursions):

Jan 9 2010 Ports of Call: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; Basseterre, St. Kitts; Roseau, Dominica; Bridgetown, Barbados; San Juan, Puerto Rico

Jan 16 Ports of Call: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. John's, Antigua; Castries, St. Lucia; St. George's, Grenada; San Juan, Puerto Rico

If you're curious take a look at this board for the Serenade Jan 9 2010 its filled with cruisers doing Back-to-Backs: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=787671

Posted total price per couple to do this B2B: $2,800 interior cabin, $4,000 balcony cabin

Hi

I'm also curious about B2B cruises. We docked at San Juan and was thinking about the B2B cruisers. I'd want to just get off the ship and go see Old San Juan (due to late flight in and early one out we never got to see Old San Juan - great shame). Can't you just get off the ship and go explore then come back later on and sort out the paperwork. I think it's a shame to waste time hanging around

That's what I was getting at on the Serenade B2B. You can plan on doing excursions between 7am and 10pm when they're turning over the passengers. Get off of the ship (your bags and belongings can stay onboard) go & explore San Juan and the only thing you might have to do is to get a new SeaPass card on your return. All aboard time is 9:30pm so thats a lot of time to explore. Heck you might even need to spend some time at the laundromat on shore, 14-days worth of clothing is a lot to pack.

When we did our b2b in 2006 on Radiance, our port was LA (San Pedro). We were escorted off the ship after everyone else had disembarked with other Continuous Cruise pax along with all the entertainers. We had to wait about 20 minutes and then were escorted back on the ship.

According to Carol...........it sounds like that has changed in LA.:(

But it does differ by port and ship.

Hi,

in puerto rico we did not change rooms and the night before disembarkation we simply had to go down to the guest relations and get a new key. The next day we wdere free to do what we wanted and get back on as we pleased.

We have a b2b in bayonne next week and have been told we have to get off the ship. I hope we don't have to bus into the tent and wait, after all bayonne isn't a great place to wait in summer yet alone dec.

Have a great cruise

dave
