Bahamas Cruise Excursion Question

Wife and I are planning a quick 3 day cruise on the Monarch Of The Seas in December. Looking for advice on what to do on the Nassau day. We definitely want to do a bach day, but cannot decide between the various beach excursions. Also, they all seem so short at only 3-4 hours.

This is our 1st time in Nassau so I was looking for tips from anyone! :)

If you go to the Ports of call threads you will see loads of info for the Bahamas. But we have been there many times , first of all remember that the night you are at the Bahamas is also formal night on the ship. I beleive we get in around 11am and leave around 11pm, plenty of time to squeeze alot in.

If you have never been to Atlantis then you definatly should go! They do NOT advertise it but when you get to the pier you can call Atlantis direct (local number) and ask if they have a "day rate" available. We did this 2X in the past. You get a room for the day and up to 4 wrist bands which allow you to the water park, and all the amenities of the property! It is beautiful, lots of pools, and slides and lazy river ride , aquarium, beach....lots of land to cover and beautiful! You can go to the room, put your bathing suits on and go have a great time, if you were smart hopefully you picked 2nd seating for dinners on the ship, you can go back to the room ,shower, do your hair ect, put on a pair of shorts, go back to the ship around 7:15pm slip into your coctail dress or tuxedo/suit go to formal night/get pics taken then go back to your stateroom change into something comfortable and go to Senior Frogs at the end of the pier and have a blast until it is time to be back on the ship (don't miss the boat).

Before you go over to Atlantis in the early afternoon, take a stroll over to the staw market if you want to do a little shopping for knock off coach bags/ souvieners etc. then get a taxi over to Atlantis and check in to your room. You can set up automatic check out which I beleive is at 10pm, when we leave the room in the evening to go back to the ship we just check out then. Be sure to check out the casino at Atlantis as well, pretty nice! And if you put 25cents into a machine drinks are free!! just give a tip.

So hope this helps! If you have never been to the Bahama's before that is my suggestion. I cannot guarantee that they have the "day rate" all the time but it is worth a shot. If you call from here to the reservation line they will flat out say there is not such thing, but if you call from the peir to the direct line then walla......they have it????? Good luck with your day! Enjoy. We are going on the Monarch Dec 19th and will be in the Bahamas on the 20th! Can't wait:D

Really? What price have they quoted you for the day rate. I have never seen anyone talk about this before?

I know they have a day pass for something like $108pp for adults. Kids are less.

But I was wondering what day rate they quoted you. :)

do not confuse it with the day rate they give you to use the facilities for the day, this was a day rate for the room it was $99.00we got two rooms and we had 8 people so 4 for each room that got the wrist bands! We stayed way over in the older section but who cares, it was a clean room with shower beds and plenty of room to get ready for captain's night without being crammed in the stateroom bathrooms LOL :) We haven't done it the past couple of times we were there because we have gotten our fill of Atlantis, but it is worth checking on when you get to the pier!

For all I know that might have done away with it completly but they just layed off alot of people just last month and might be hurting for money anyway they can get it........so try it!

Just back from Bahamas today, Had a great day in Nassau thanks to a private tour we took. It was my mother, sister and myself. Mom had a knee replacement couple of years ago so I needed something that she could enjoy with little walking. Now I know you were asking about the beach excursions but just had to say that we had the best and most imformative tour guide. He went above and beyond all our expectations. We drove around seeing the sites and hearing all of the history and facts of the island for 3 hours. He would stop at the points of interest including Atlantis, which we toured the inside (aquarium was wonderful). Let me know if anyone is interested I will pass on the information. This is an exceptional tour especially for the elderly.

We were on the same cruise as you and we did a similar tour. We were approached by a local tour guide at the end of the quay who had an official id. We were a little sceptical but the tour turned out to be excellent. Our tour guide, Lennix, took us round quite a bit of the island with excellent commentary all the way. We also visited the fort and the Queens Steps. We even saw where the poor live as well as the rich and famous.

Atlantis was awesome and Lennix even took us inside and told us the history of it.

Highly recommended.

I did the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon. Booked it myself and saved money from the ship price but this was a great day that I will always remember. You can also walk around Atlantis a little (the parts they let you into at least) as it is right near the dock you leave from to go to Blue Lagoon.

That is a great room rate. I have never gotten close to that. The lowest they ever quoted me was $179.00. And the tower is called Beach Tower and yes, it is shut down right now. :(

Fletch - what about swimming with the stingrays at Blackbeards Cay? We had a great experience there. You can swim with the stingrays on one side and have a great beach day on the other. It's a gorgeous little island.
