Freedom Connectivity

Yes you can use it in your room, or on your balcony or 'wherever' on the ship. Just paid $55 plus $3.95 setup fee for 110 minutes. Internet cafes on shore are much cheaper. In Nassau for example, you pay $2.00 for 20 minutes. Something to consider. Ship connection is slower than dial up, but sufficient for basic email. All of the internet pricing plans are somewhere on the Carnival site (and likely on these boards somewhere!). Many airports (Ft. Lauderdale, JFK etc) have free WIFI as do the hotels. You'll be connected everywhere you go!

We had no problem connecting while in our cabin on the Freedom (Upper - Aft). We did, however, write our emails offline and then connect to send and receive our emails and then shut down. We had plenty of minutes to do that all week and we were also able to print out our boarding passes for our flight home. Surfing the web would have eaten up our minutes quickly.
